Oh dear ...That's not so good ...hope your antibiotics kick in soon oldfoss ...Need thicker leggings the wee blighters ...Take care of yourself and hope your back fighting fit soon 😊😊
Course not! He's a boy! 🤣🤣 the malaise has gone as well as numbness in the area and wound is healing well now, finally, so he'll live but hopefully he'll keep his eyes peeled next time.
So many critters and plants out there that can get you this time of year!! Stay safe everyone! 🤞🤗
Tee hee... I have to say.. I gave it two days..but I was sensible... trouble is..the over the counter stuff that we get here in the UK pharmacies, is not the same strength as the stuff I was able to get in France when I got bitten.. so it did not touch the bite at all... !
But.. I am on the pills now.. so it should start to feel much better in a couple of days
Oh no floss! Poor you. That's not how you want to spend any day ☹️ There's loads of nasties around atm. My husband got bitten by a horse fly through his socks! I've already had two this summer so I spray every time I go out now. I think this weather has increased their numbers.
You know what the cure is? A glass or two of something bubbly cures most bites you know 🙂 I had a glass of English sparkling wine the other night and it was delicious and I immediately thought of you!
Just realised, you probably won't be able to drink alcohol if you're on antibiotics ☹️ sorry xxx
Not to bad, thanks, Irishprincess . 3days in Barcelona and several hours gardening have helped (lots of change going on). Need to get a regular running routine back.
You've been busy! I've had the best G&T's ever in Barcelona 😊 Hope you had a few....
The weather has made gardens grow like jungles so I'm with you in that I'm in the garden most days trying to control it 😂 but I love it so it's not an effort.
Things are good in my world. Still running, just back from the IC again but still moving and breathing and that's all that matters 🙂
I simply cannot believe it Maj... ! I had finished the run!
I have been bitten twice by the blessed things...apparently, they are not repelled by anti insect stuff!!
I am having a glass of chilled Chablis.. the antibiotics I am on , you can drink alcohol with.. and I double checked... The nurse at the hospital said I would deserve one this evening !
Sorry to hear that OF .. I would have thought you would have sneaked past the blighters unheard with your ninja moves. Get well soon and enjoy the rest.
Oh no Floss, this wasn't supposed to happen...😐. Those horsefly bites are really horrid and very painful. Hope the antibiotics do their stuff and you feel better soon. 😊xxx
They are working... much less swollen and a tad easier this morning. xx
I just cannot believe it... it was after a lovely run, and I did not realise that one had got the top of my thigh as well as the bite on my hand!!!
Until It started ballooning, and then it all went pear shaped... I do have a reaction to many insect bites, especially these nasty things...like many of us...and know how to deal with them...but this little blighter decided to infect me!!
It has scuppered my HM plan..again!!!! But... the runs will still be there...thank you xxx
I didn't mind a little wait for my badge as I know how hard you admin folk work to keep up with all the posts and badges.... honestly it means so much and I am so incredibly proud to have 'graduate' by my name as it represents such a major journey for me in so many ways.. so please don't apologise Oldfloss, thank you for all you do in motivating and advising new runners like myself, and I hope you recover from your nasty bite soon xxx
Oh poor you! There are some horrible beasties out there in the great outdoors, and one of them found you Thank you, you took the time anyway to do the badges you superstar ... now back to resting that leg. Wishing you a speedy recovery, OF xx
Oh that sounds horrid! I am always envious of the photographs of sunlit meadows and shady towpaths that make my grey, polluted pavements seem very sad. However, I hadn’t counted on the wildlife aspect! Hope you’re healing well now and back out there soon.
It is lovely running. but there are some really hungry beasties out there too..hence my long leggings.. this fella bit through them! Thank you... seven days antibiotics, so seven days rest and then another gentle run in again
Nasty stupid nasty bad naughty horsefly things!! I I hadn't already hated them to the point of vengeance I would now. No-one gets away with hurting our Flossie. We will rise up in the streets.
Hope the Chablis made everything feel a bit better. xxx
It did...lust one small glass was enough to relax me a bit... thank you my friend.
Horseflies are particularly nasty and slightly vindictive blighters,,, and there is so much out there that they could nibble on... I did feel a tad sorry for myself.... But.. the antibiotics are kicking in this morning so by the end of today things should be improving a tad more xx
I got stung on the arm by a couple of angry wasps while cutting a hedge and could just feel the stinging starting, but luckily found the WASP-EZE stick which took off the sting immediately..😊
Ouch.... that sounds painful.. I do have a reaction to bites... and know how to deal, I carry a reverse hypodermic to get stings out etc...but the normal stuff was not having an effect!
I know that, you are lovely And I really feel for you...
I am currently trying to find repellents that work.. Horseflies do not respond to even the strong insect repellents... the favourite so far is garlic... in a home made spray or if you eat it.. the skin exudes the scent and they hate it Home made garlic soup I think
Pooh! Dont have garlic before socialising though..😁
I don't suffer too much with bites or stings, I'm on some medications which I don't think the beastie's like..
Slinky tends to get bitten more than me, she once got a bite whilst we were abroad on holiday which swelled, so had to see a GP, and recovered ok..
I now recall that recently when visiting a gardens and standing next to pond I noticed a very small flying insect on my wrist, which I quickly brushed off, it stung for only about 30 secs then went off and I was fine, so it got me, but not for long!😊
I have just graduated with R3W9 this morning, but before I tell you how my run went I hope you recover from that nasty bite you got the other day.
Well after 9 weeks starting on April 18 with run 1 I finally ran my last 30 minute one this morning from 10.30 to 11 o'clock along the seafront promenade at Helensburgh about 35 miles from where I live. There was quite a fresh headwind at first but overall it did not stop me the least bit from according to my app running a distance of 4km 243m at 07.05/km pace. It's been an amazing journey since April and I thank everyone, especially you for advising me and everyone else to go "slow and steady" I have done that in all my runs and have not needed to repeat any at all. No hurry but when you are ready you can send me my graduation badge.
Oh no! There seems to be a lot of that happening lately - you are about the 3rd or 4th person I have heard that from. Some sort of mutant bug on the prowl maybe?? Yikes! Hope you are on the mend.
Thank you... the ABs are really kicking in... because I rarely take them, they are zapping me, but the bite is improving and feeling easier..apart from the itching at night!!!
Thanks you... yes I am.. last day of antibiotics tomorrow thank goodness.. They have worked though.. I have a small red patch and a large bruise where the blessed thing got me! But... no itiching now!
Oh my goodness! So sorry I hadn’t seen this sooner. What a terrible thing to happen to you. I hope the antibiotics have worked and you are feeling better. Xx
They do! I always react to insect bites and have had a couple of run ins with horseflies, but this one was infected! I am exploring techniques to alienate them x
Oh no. I’ve been off work twice this year with bad reactions to bites. There is nothing more embarrassing than having to say mosquitoes (or a horse fly) made me ill. In the UK. 🤣. Luckily I also have had a giant swelled up limb to prove it and was all slightly sweaty. Apparently this is a year everyone’s reactions have been really bad. Mosquito milk roll on seems to be working for me and isn’t killing my skin with all that deet. And they really don’t like it this year! Funnily enough I think running when I was better sped up the recovery, forced circulation got the final swelling to go - don’t do this at home kids. Get well soon, it really is rough. Xxx
Poor you! Ouch... the bite is really on the mend now...thank you... the ABs did their stuff. I knew what to expect but the infection this one was carrying was the real issue.. I shall avoid at all costs from now on... I am thinking of getting a desensitising course started too!
