My "inner Enid" decided it was necessary to read all the day's posts thoroughly, watch videos on running yoga and try new headphones out whilst listening to podcasts.
This meant we were drastically running out of time to actually run! So I rushed out, using the Laura podcast for the first time and the new headphones (thank you, Wenderwoo). I am not a fan of the music...I am sure Olly Murs or Mike & the mechanics could have a better beat.
Less then 10 minutes in it started to throw it down with rain and the music stopped...Enid was not the only one who wanted to go home. (Had the earphones got wet? Showerproof not waterproof. Was my phone getting wet? Panic, panic!)
Bottom line, I kept going.... repeating a route that I had done before to guess the time / distance. The phone was fine, I had not given permission for the Bluetooth to stay on after the phone went to sleep.π The Samsung fitness app said I had run 40 mins. Yeah! πββοΈ
But Enid now knows that the real learning is done during the activity and not before!

Love your Enid posts Nilsam. I give you the credit for the run and the lovely art work though. A little tip for running the rain, pop your phone in a sandwich bag. π
Oh wow...that is an amazing compliment that I will accept with grateful thanks. π€
I have to admit the posts on this site are so addictive I can waste so much time...but now I can say I am educating myself / Enid. Great excuse...we may get her through her Gcse's first (or O'levels?)π
Thank you, Roxdog. I think Enid (I) would sit about reading, listening to podcasts and drinking tea all day if I didn't have strict words. I have weaned off the toxic Facebook only but still spend too long on screen.
Cracking little painting, great run, and a great post, though my heart skipped a beat when you said music stopped in case it was the headphones. I get sucked into the forum too, but it is so good, and I just want to try and spur on as many people as possible. My screen time has gone through the roof! Iβm going to have to set a limit........ π€π
The posts are addictive and inspirational as are yours... Well done for actually getting t there, with so many issues conspiring to delay you...
Save post reading, for when you get in from your runs and for the long winter evenings...my rambles of all my runs from 2015, keep me occupied through many a long winter... and huge well done on your 40 minute run...
Thank you. Trouble is she was still whining her doubts in my ears...sometimes it's better if I leave her at home. π
Sounds like you and Enid experienced 'faffage' today! Sounds like lovely faffage though π, just the sort that I could see myself getting side-tracked by. But you made it out there, so well done on your run - 40 minutes is great!
Fantastic! My sister's name is Enid, it's a rather special name I think. Yeah the music is ... odd, it's almost "not music" but somehow ....it's ok for running. Yeah, I'm in love with Laura! She is punctual, she doesn't criticise and is full of positive praise. What headphones do you have? They are essential in this noisy world, I am very happy with mine (Bose) but if it is raining I do put a light hood over my head.
So headphones and shoes are the tools that enable us. Best wishes and safe running!
Hi Lesaspie, Wenderwoo recommended some Tayogo Bone Conduction Headphones the other day and was just what I was looking for. (Functional and not too expensive.) I had just been using the Samsung ear buds that come with the phone. I'd tried some other Bluetooth ear phones without joy.
I hope you would not be insulted with my use of Enid as my "inner person" name. I am fond of her now but she need serious encouragement and education to get fit & healthy. ππ
Not insulted at all! Your description "she needs serious encouragement and education to get fit & healthy" fits my sister perfectly. I bought the Bose ones because they have noise reduction and I need to isolate myself from the world, even here in Estonia which is already silent enough for anyone. I love music and used to be a semi-serious audiophile but here the headphones are all I have, and they are fantastic.
Poor Enid. She should be encouraged by you then. The Bose noise reduction earphones sound ideal for your situation. The reverse is required for where I run. I need to hear cars, bikes and people to stay safe. Take care. πββοΈππ£π
You can turn that off actually, and its surprising how much noise there actually is. But you are right about safety. It would be different if there was more traffic. I do my best to encourage her, but I am little brother still .
