Penultimate run in my revisit of the C25k journey, the Zombie version.
Today :
☆ 5 min walking
☆ 10 min freeform run
☆ 3 min stretching/walking
☆ 10 min freeform running
☆ 5 min walking
☆ 10 min freeform running
☆ 5 min walking
☆ 5 min running
The nice thing about this run is that I woke up early, and by 6 am, I was out there running.
My outfit clashed, donning still my old strangely-checkered leopard leggings that I got in a sale, as well as a top which is also not my favorite…. But both are functional and do their job. Add my Altras Trail shoes in yet another color scheme….
But who cares, right?
The run was fabulous! 35 min of total running!
I am chuffed, chuffed I am soon back to my running 60 minutes, and I am also chuffed that this revisit of the C25k was not only fun but allowed me to switch and get used to zero drop shoes!
Enjoying now shoes with wide toe boxes, my metatarsals feel brill, with no niggles, so this change to this kind of shoe while revisiting C25k was a great way forward in my running journey.
Happy running, everyone!

I think they invented the word to allow people to walk where necessary or do a bit of jeffing.
They do go to 10 and then 20 min of running quite quickly, so I think it's their way of allowing beginner runners to be more flexible when run-walking.
Overall, I think the NHS C25k is better designed for complete beginners, as it's more clear of what you are asked to do, but this is great for me.
My mind is boggling because if "freeform running" actually means "not necessarily running" that makes no sense to me, either linguistically or from a training perspective. If it's OK for someone to walk, or jeff, then why don't they (I mean whoever came up with the programme) just say so?
In fairness, i wouldn't go near Zombies, Run! anyway so I'm biased, but I just don't get the need for extra jargon and complexity. I'm all for the KISS principle!
Yes, I’m all for KISS as well, but this program was great for me, I have to admit. As it had these additional drills each weak (skip, squat, etc) it made it really interesting. Also I’ve never stretched during a run, but this felt also great!
Great to hear of your progress - not so sure about the fashion 🤣🤣🤣. Interesting that you've taken so well to the zero drop shoes. Might be something to help others with similar issues?
Well done your nearly there. Ever heard of freeform running either. Your doing well on this course. I’m doing more walking on roads with my altras like your ones and getting used to them. Might just keep for roads. Looking at another pair of altras 5 lone peak sale sport shoes to get as spares. Keep going not far now. 🙂
Good running for you CBDB, I hadn't heard of freeform running either so interesting read. Free form fashion is also interesting!! Don't you overheat in leggings at this time of year?
A couple of days ago I did 9k in rain. My paths were just like yours so overhanging wet grass and nettles obscured the path for long sections. I was glad of my crop leggings then, it was also early morning and cool, but by the time I got home I had an outbreak of hives on my legs from knees up... I guess because my legs had heated. Normally I wear shorts but these were ordinary sweaty Betty cropped so winter weight. I want to get some summer, airy ones if they exist.
Yeah, I only know Lucy Locket ones, which I bought after reading the recent post on marathon which had loads of links and recommendations.
And the Lucy locket active wear has a brilliantly cool feel to them, but then I compare them to the thick Lands End ones and a couple of decathlon black ones. But I do love the cool feel of the LL ones. (But don’t know how others feel)
