Week 4 Run 3: a new path

I’m redoing Couch25k after Covid and Injury Couch, but I’m doing it the Zombie, Run version.

Today was the run finishing off week 4, which means I’m halfway! It had:

5 min walking

5 min running

Repeat 5 times: (10 Knee lifts + 1 min Slow walk + 1 min Fast walk )

Repeat 5 times: (30 sec slow run + 1 min walk )

15 min free form run

For the 15 min free form run I knew I needed to extend my usual route by ca 10 minutes, and I turned down a little path on the side of my route.

It’s amazing how we can run in a geographical area for 2 years and then we find one little path that I had just passed by every time I ran!

And what a gorgeous little 10 minute route that was, with fields, ducks, coppices and bluebells! Everything you want in a trail-y joggling path.

And 15 min running went fine fit the first time in a long time. I’m getting there.

Well done. It does make a difference when the scenery changes. Keep going, you can do this.

Yes, new scenery is great, isn't it. But I am still finding new paths in my own backyard, which is delightful.

That’s always fun. Makes you realise how many lovely local places that you’ve never seen.

Definitely! Since starting to run I rediscovered the town I’ve lived in for 5 years!

Sounds like a great run. The bluebells are looking amazing at this time of year. Can’t beat them for a bit of a lift.

.... and of course, I got a letter from Sam, preparing me for the life as a runner in the Zombie Universe!

Love your runs. Lovely photos and nice and flat it looks to walk. Do u do your knee lifts on your runs as well? Well done 👏

Thank you. Knee lifts while walking. The audio suggests while standing, but i do them as a kind of slow-motion running man with lifting knees and feet. (I’m such a slow joggler, lifting them while running completely confuses me… 🥴😵‍💫😏)

Sorry that’s what I meant when your out walk/run. You’re not slow you’re a 🏃‍♀️ Maybe I should try that when walking knee lifts.

Doing it slowly must also help train my balance … so it’s been a good little exercise. (And by now, I don’t care about any of the looks I get by passers by 🤣)

Looks and sounds lovely, you're really motivating me to step outside tomorrow!

Oh, yeah! This is a brilliant time of the year to take it outside! Maybe celebrate your new running legs with a little run outside! Doesn’t have to be a big route, just a little one into the wild! (Also: belated huge congrats!!!)

I loved exploring potential routes with the footpath app and then to explore for real! But as you may know, I also love working out indoors! Each has its advantages and gives us rich, diverse experiences!

Happy running!

Oh no!!! I think we’ll have to breed some Japanese-slow joggling zombies…🤣🤣

Yes, new path was lovely 😊!

I know, I can outrun them most the time, but haven’t a lot of energy
