Week 8 Run 3

After a fantastic week skiing, with beautiful weather ❄️🌞& then back to work, I hadn’t run for 15 days!!

I was dreading going out, thinking how am I going to do 25 minutes after so many days off?! So I thought I’d go back a run to W7 R3 & it was actually ok.....I remembered reading a post by IannodaTruffle about how long it takes to lose fitness...well he’s right!

I also had the mantra that I’ve read so many times here of ‘go slow, slow it down & slow it down again... this has helped massively in running through week 8 but also I have achieved some really good split times (is that how you say it?!?!)

I’ve really enjoyed the longer runs, the 20 minute plus ones. I definitely found week’s 5 & 6 the hardest & these are the weeks that I’ve had to repeat lots of the runs before I moved on to the next week.

Again I have read great advice on here about the first 10-15 minutes being the hardest & once I get passed that point I feel like I can run forever (I’m exaggerating a little now) but it all makes sense! I have completed week 8 with no repeated/practise runs & I have to say I’m quite proud of myself!

Thank you all so much for all the fab advice...bring on Week 9 😄

Fantastic upbeat post - and you'll be on the podium in no time!

Glad you got straight back into the swing of things. If anything I imagine skiing would have helped to strengthen your legs and introduce a bit of variety.

The running helped massively with my fitness for skiing, my BF is a great skier (I’m not!) & I knew I had to up my game this year! We skied 150 miles in 8 days & he tells me I have definitely improved! 😆So that massively helped with my fitness levels for running when we got home. I never thought I would say it, but I do love running!! 😊
