Finally back out there

This afternoon so good to have it dry and warm and no ice so I finally got out and ran. The first time for 11 days did not risk any runs in the cold, ice and snow as I did not want to risk any chance of slipping and causing injury as I knew it would be hard to recover from. So can you imagine my delight that I achieved a 5k in 28.00 minutes exactly whilst not under my target of 28.00 but an improvement of 9 seconds on my last run. Really pleased with that. Was jealous seeing all my Strava friends running in all weathers. It just did not appeal to me. Hopefully you are all still running and getting nearer to your elusive targets. Stay healthy, stay running and stay fit.

I didn't fancy the ice either. My first run back was 5k. Just a tad slower than you- like 17 minutes slower! Mind you it was only my 6th. You must be nearing 150 at least l.

The speed isn’t everything you are getting out there and running. Yes I graduated back in March 2019 and now have 122 5k times under my belt. Still 2 minutes 12 seconds off my best whilst nearly all my under 27.00 mins seem to come in the period June to September 2020 which as I said I am a fair weather runner undertaking at least one maintenance run a week weather permitting. I will go if it’s wet as a last resort but prefer it dry. Today’s one probably helped that it’s was still daylight when I went. Good luck stick at it sure the times will improve in time.

Many thanks Katnap not bad for someone just weeks away from being 60. If I can maintain my times and improve there is hope for all of you out there. Stick at it.

I haven’t been able to run for ages because of the ice and snow and now that it’s all finally cleared I feel like I can’t get myself back into the programme 😩. I’ve been doing some walks to help me stay active, the other day I walked 7km! But I don’t know how to motivate myself now, I feel it’s been too long 😩. Good on you for getting back out there though!! And you did so well 💪🏼

Many thanks RubyAlice21 just go for it. I know my route for winter /dark runs so put my music on and I know if all goes well it should take no longer than around 45 mins. I had started to get guilt complexes about not going. I would suggest just go out warm up and see how it goes. A run is a run however long your are out there. Just take it steady and hopefully enjoy. Good luck.

Yeah I’m definitely feeling the guilt!! I will definitely try and get back out there some time this week, thank you so much!

Ignore the excuses that the gremlins throw at you and just get out there. Even if it's only for 15 minutes.

Think it was also the right conditions, dry and daylight and no ice or snow.
