So I missed running on Monday as I walked into the west end to donate blood 🩸, so after a round walk of about 2.5hrs I thought I would postpone the run until Tuesday.
As I have a week off I went out during the day which is a change from the usual after work evening run. I have to say I still don’t really like running in the day, to many people I think!
I had listened to the stepping stones podcast a few weeks back and thought it sounded terrifying! It sounded so fast to me. Anyway yesterday I decided to give it a whirl as I wanted to see if I could increase my speed. It was not easy for me, I was a bit all over the shop and ilI certainly wasn’t able to keep up with the last 10mins at 160bpm but I kept going none the less. So my pace WAS a little quicker, I didn’t really enjoy it! And back was the ‘tomato’ face 🍅, but I felt pretty pleased with myself so despite hating it I will try it again at some point. Glutton for punishment......almost certainly, but also keen to push myself on with my running journey....honestly who would have thought it a few months ago!

Yes, well done for giving it a go! I was perplexed the first time I did stepping stones I kept to the beat but I didn't increase distance. My stride must've been really short! Anyway I've attempted all 3 podcasts again a couple of times since and did speed last week and actually noticed a difference. It was easier and I went faster! I think it's good to mix these in with whatever plan you're following post grad. Happy running! ☺️
