Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Hi,

I just finished week 2 as well. Funnily enough, lower leg issues were one thing I was expecting would be an issue before I started (as I'm fairly overweight), and they haven't been. I've been taking it very steady so maybe you've overdone the pace a bit because you're fitter than you think you are?

I've been doing the stretches after each run and they definitely help. They add a bit of time to your run but are well worth it!

Heyyy, I had this issue. Gosh it’s horrible.

I tried all sorts and in the end what worked for me was..... changing my trainers.

I tried...

Heat creams

Cooling creams

Physio

Knee supports

Hot baths

Stretching before and after

Non of this was productive. Ha! So maybe spoil yourself and invest in some new trainers. Xx

The best advice would be to check that your trainers support your feet well. Good trainers are worth the investment.

Massaging your shins before and after a run will help too.

All the best mate.

Hi, I'm a novice and have just completed week 3. I was getting the beginnings of calf and rear thigh pains in week 1 and 2. I started doing the static stretches shown here nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... to avoid getting worse and it has seemed to work - I would strongly recommend it. I also used a foam roller a few times on specific spots - which is painful but clears the contracted muscle. I now also deliberately drink a small glass of water before setting off as my legs were feeling heavy part way through and read that it would help - it does and I would strongly recommend this as well. Good luck

Sounds like shin splints. I had these. You need to take a few days off to rest, then go back at it.
