Week 5 run 3.

I have just run for 20 minutes. I can't believe how far I have come in the last 5 weeks. Things I have noticed: (1) I don't get out of breath when running. The programme has taught me how to breath. (2) I actually get excited to run and see what I can achieve. (3) the first three minutes of running are the hardest. (4) My legs need to get stronger (and will) as my runs progress. (5) I have not encountered a physical reason to stop running during c25k. The biggest hurdle is my brain telling me to stop. When that happens I just think to my self, I can still breath and my legs are still moving, so I carry on. This all sounds very easy, but I feel at pains to state that I have not exercised since school, led a sedentary life and sit in a chair all day at work. I'm 53 and I have discovered that it is never too late to learn to run. Looking forward to week 6 and the challenge it brings.

Well done on running run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs 🏃. 😊

Will do, thanks for the advice. I am having a sneak peak to see what is in store for the week ahead. 👍

You will enjoy your forthcoming runs until the end of the course when you graduate with W9R3.

Well done !!

Well done!! I just did it too - can’t believe how good it felt! Agreed that the first few minutes are the hardest, but I actually prefer the non stop running to the run/walk combo - once I get into the rhythm it’s somehow easier to carry on rather than walk again!

Thank you. It's the best feeling to realise what your body can do after years of inactivity. It is a very forgiving set of organs 😁. Having said all of that I have had a Sunday afternoon nap. 🛌
