Well that’s the first week done, I started getting really bad pains down the side of my lower leg again. Didn’t stop me though and I managed to get 5 new achievements on my Strava app aswell.

Well done. I like strava and it's really useful. The only thing I'd beware of is that it can encourage you to compete with yourself and go too fast. I made that mistake in the first few weeks until I realised I was in danger of injury. It's best to start out really slowly. The times will come later, but not if you're on the injury couch.

Having said all that - bloomin' good for you 👍

Strava is really good, I’m using it. I kept the same pace and distance for my first week. So that was good but the pain I’m getting feels like a bone is going to snap and pop out the side of my leg. I think it might have something to do with my trainers as they’re as hell, new trainers next week though so we’ll just have to wait and see

Thanks for the encouragement though 💪🏼

Shin splints?

It’s not down the front of my leg it’s the outside. Would it still be shin splints?

Honestly, I'm not sure. You can run with aches though, but not in pain. New trainers can't be a bad thing though.

Please listen to your body - sounds like there is something not right so you should have extra rest days.If it continues you could visit a sports therapist for treatment. Good luck 😊

Well done for getting out there, but.... Never run through pain! Aching is one thing, but pain is another! Aches tell you that you have worked hard. Pains tell you there is something wrong. If it carries on when you have good running shoes and slow down a bit (it's a run not a race) then please get a professional to have a look at it.

I hope the new trainers will do the job though. Good luck, and don't end up on the IC or it will take you much longer to finish the programme!
