W6R3- Hardest yet

I felt sort of flat about this run last night, I wasn't dreading it, but wasn't really looking forward to it either. Run started with the usual warm up aches, that disappeared after a few minutes as is usual, but had me doubting that I was going to get round today, what if the aches became unbearable, LOL.

However at 5 and 12.5 minutes I was comfortable, but I was so disappointed when Jo pipped up that 20 minutes had passed, it seemed so long that I had last heard from her, I had rationalised that I would next hear her with only 120 or 60 seconds to go. By this time the 3rd and 4th toes on both feet were numb with pins and needles, and although the breathing and legs were OK I was just plain old tired.

When the lovely lady did actually say that there were 60seconds left to go I was able to stretch out a little but it was rather half-hearted and the brakes came on like never before when the full 25 minutes were up. I didn't feel the huge sense of achievement I felt on completing W5R3 and still feel feel rather flat about it.

Hey ho, you silly old bugger, you still got round your first 25minute non-stop running and I am sure that not all runs will be epic highs.

Good luck to everyone else completing W6 this week.

All the best

Yes, the silence between 5 and 12.5 minutes was too long. It was the same with my chosen coach, Sanjeev. The script must be the same for all of them.

Anyway, well run!

I didn't find the 5 to 12.5 minutes too long, it was the one between 12.5 and 20minutes that got me. However, I have found other silences too short. I guess it all depends on how you are feeling at the time.

Well done you as well.

Sorry to hear you struggled with that run, but you got there and achieved. Will be doing W6R3 on Friday, so I am glad I read your post and the replies. I don’t think we all feel a sense of achievement after every run. Some we do and some we don’t. We just keep going. I think you will feel better on your next run. You will soon be a graduate 😀

Yep, and as I think on, I am chuffed to have completed it even though I didn't feel great. And I guess that that in itself is another stepping stone and laudable achievement. I have never felt so achy and done in after a session to boot.

Well done on completing. I have mine tomorrow, not sure how I will do.

I found r1 hard, r2 better but I still look forward to hearing Jo say only 60 seconds to go, so will have to try and focus on something else tomorrow as it will be a longer wait to hear those words!

You did it and you exercised for 35 mins which is great !

Sorry but I think you're frikkin awesome for completing that 25 minute run 😁😁 I've got mine on Friday and I'm sure I'll feel knackered after it too but point is...you did it!!! X

I did find keeping my head up and focusing on da' muzak really helped get me through. I also found that when I was struggling, that I concentrated too hard on pushing through, so that my neck and shoulders tensed up. I countered this by consciously relaxing my arms, dropping them to my sides and shaking them out for a few strides. Others may find this helpful?

And it’s doing those runs when you don’t really feel like it and pushing through anyway that turns you into a real runner! It’s a great achievement in itself. You are doing everything right!!

Some runs are harder than others, nevertheless congratulations on completing it, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, well done, onwards and upwards to week 7 which are all 3/25 minute runs 🏃🏾 👍.

You probably want to look into why you're getting pins and needles. Are you lacing your shoes too tightly?

Definitely laced a bit too tight this AM. Didn't follow my own lesson of walking up and down the office/ kitchen a couple of times before setting out to check 'em. And don't like stopping once I am out. I hoping that in a few weeks/run time that I will have learnt to get them just right, first tie [sic].

Well done for getting it DONE. To begin with I was confused when I’d have a run that felt flat. Where’s my runner’s high gone? It seems we all have them though and I’ve just about got used to the fact that it’s just the way it goes. It certainly doesn’t phase me as much.

As you say, the important thing to remember is that you’re doing it anyway, you’re committed to creating a healthy new habit to be proud of 👍🏼
