Feel free to ignore this post but I'm a bit annoyed after completing W4R3 on Friday morning. The run went fine and was no more strenuous than the previous two but I changed my warm-up. So far, I've been doing static stretches for 30 seconds prior to leaving the house but came across several resources suggesting this was ill advised. Switching to dynamic stretches (side lunges, dead lifts and various leg swing exercises) I thought maybe the run would somehow be enhanced. My cool down routine was the same as before. However, since Friday morning my hamstrings and calf muscles have been tight and even walking hasn't been too comfortable. As I'm set for W5R1 on Monday morning, I recognise that I will not be in the right shape for the run, possibly not even by Tuesday. So my rigorous Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule, one the reasons I think I've been able to keep up with regular running is going to be broken.
When I do eventually get out on the run, I'm going to go back to static stretching because it has worked for me so far in my fledgling status as a 'runner'.
