Week 9, Run 3 - I actually did it! I can hardly believe it! Crisp-eating, Irn Bru drinking, unfit and overweight me actually completed Couch to 5K. After a hectic week back at work (I’m a teacher) I finally got out to do my final run of Week 9 this morning. Very warm but fortunately quite cloudy so didn’t have the sun blazing down. I can’t say it was easy but it wasn’t awful either, though I did start off too fast and had to slow down. Once I was on my cool down walk, I just kept saying over and over again, “You did it, Judith, you did it!” Out loud!
So, what have I learned during this experience? Well, firstly that I can finish things. I’ve started diets and fitness projects over the years but have always fallen at the first or second hurdle. Now I know that if you find the right thing for you, it’s possible to complete a plan.
Secondly, that there is certainly a power in positive thinking. I learned to argue with the negative voices and tell myself, “You can do it.”
And finally, well, I learned that a sports bra is great for carrying your MP3 player plus a tissue! Who needs a pocket or a handbag?! 🤣🤣
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me throughout this journey. What a lot of lovely people there are out there. This forum has made a huge difference - I don’t think I would have kept going without it.
My next challenge is to find a way to keep running now that ‘normal’ life is here - school, teenagers to get out of bed etc. Any advice welcome!
Now off to celebrate with Scotland’s other national drink - Irn Bru! 😄

Congratulations you should be proud of yourself. I suppose first thing to aim for is to complete a set of consolidation run, and by then hopefully it'll become a habit and you can make time for yourself.
So the lady from Tiree has graduated from C25K, congratulations Islandmacmum.
To get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE 🎓 next to your username leave a message in the pinned posts on the right side of the healthunlocked C25K home page and tell the administrators that you have ran W9R3 of C25K and graduated 🎓 🏃🏾 👍
Now go and celebrate your wonderful achievement with as much Irn Bru as you want. 😊 🏃🏾 🎓
Although Tiree had missed the worst of the heat and thunderstorms that other parts of the UK have had, I have noticed that Tiree has been the sunniest place in UK quite a lot over the last couple of weeks. ☀
Yes there is a weather station on Tiree which is in the sea area Malin, when I listen to the Shipping Forecast they often report a Force 8 gale from Tiree, that would be very difficult for a run.
Of course you didn’t fall at the first hurdle Islandmacmum! You followed the plan and look where it got you! Huge congratulations to you - onwards and onwards from here! Celebrations are now in order!👏👏👏🏆
Fantastic Judith, you’ve graduated. I am really pleased for you. As for to keep running, I am at the same stage as you, slightly ahead but only just. I have found so far that I’m enjoying the runs much more, using at as my time for me and still get a thrill when I complete them. Good luck. 💪🏻👏👏👏😊
