My First 5K (i missed you Laura) !

Well, i had gone out with the intention of at least running my 30 minutes , however, i knew on my graduation run that i had run 3.9K in that time and i did not want to push it then (well, i did want too but decided against it)

so this morning i was out of the door at 06:10

it was quite pleasant at that time with a nice cool gentle breeze .

i still hadn't decided if it would be 30 minutes or 5K, i just thought lets see how things go , my initial pace was reasonable , a tad slower than my pre injury pace but that's fine as i was feeling comfortable, i am feeling less and less of the injury now each time i run, although i am obviously still conscious of it .

The Jethro tull album 'Stand up' was my playlist (They were the first band i ever saw live)

i did miss Laura's comforting words as i progressed , i felt i had lost a friend but now i have to make new friends in 'BIG SCHOOL' πŸ˜‚

The run was pretty uneventful , which is what i wanted, in fact i was really starting to enjoy it, it was just me and my thoughts and my music , the time just seemed to slip by then with no reminders and no halfway bell , i was begining to get used to it , AND, i couldn't really notice any discomfort !

i ran my usual route so around the corner to my now not so scary hill and after the hill was when i started to think the 5K was an option .

i had done around 3K at this point and was feeling good .

i carried on to the 30 minutes which brings me close to home and thought ok, 3.9K done let's continue , similar comfortable pace .

i already had an extra little loop in mind that i thought would cover the extra distance so i just went on , it really didn't feel a problem , if anything i enjoyed it even more as i was maintaining a pace and watching the countdown to 5K.

My aim was to complete it in under 40 minutes , and im very happy to say i managed 39:42

i will now use this run a few more times to consolidate .

for anyone just starting out on their C25K journey , you can do this !

i know its been said so many times before but the program is truly amazing !

stick with it , you won't be disappointed πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Very Well Done Instructor 57...

I am so pleased for you!

Such a shame you had the injury earlier in the programme as it really set you back but look what you’ve done, you’ve gone and smashed it!

That’s Amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well done!

Enjoy your weekend with your feet up!

😊

Well done, Ian! You are back πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Great to achieve your 5K within 40 minutes (just!) as you had hoped.

I hope you don’t suffer afterwards with your injury. Take care!

Thanks Jools ,

It was free from discomfort and 'just' in 40 was the plan rather than a hope πŸ˜‚

Well done Ian ... πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

So an unintentional 5k eh .... a lot of unintentional stuff going on !

I used Michael for first few consolidation runs ... albeit looking back found it constraining as was still running to the clock not to my goals.

Really great stuff ! First 5k done ! πŸ…

Haha it was always an option depending on how it went.

And I'm pleased to say it was comfortable πŸ˜πŸ‘

Well done Instructor57 πŸ‘ great achievement. If you miss having a trainer, The Nike Run Club App is good, lots of guided runs on there inc 5k ones and it’s free. It also shows you the time you completed it in etc.

Thank you !

I downloaded that the other day but not looked into it yet πŸ˜πŸ‘

It’s ok, I did 5k with it last Thursday, wasn’t bothered about time just wanted to enjoy the run, I liked the trainer, not too intrusive, checks in with you at various distances, and tells you when your reaching the last stage of the 5k, in metres, so if you are trying for a quicker time you can push yourself knowing how far you’ve got left to go.

I may take a look at it over the weekend πŸ˜¬πŸ‘
