Really excited about my new route for my consolidation runs (see pic).
It just has a longer (8 min) warm-up walk on heavily housed street π π π , with all windows facing the future intrepid π³ runner / warm-up walker π.
But then a glorious 30 min of a former train π line ππ½ββοΈππΏββοΈππΌββοΈππ»ββοΈ with only one fairy house π§π»ββοΈ looking on. Can you spot it?

Iβm working up the nerve to drive to new locations to start a run from. This reminds me that the town I live in has an old railway line too that is now a trail, I should check it out too!
Yes, I needed to run my old route for quite a bit.
Three things are/were important for me able to enjoy and focus on my runs: the route; the music; and the type of virtual coach. And changing the coach from the C25k app to runkeeper meant I felt I had to keep the other two the same.
Now I have changed route, coach and music and even did one run solo (without music or coach). But little steps....
Big difference: with music πΆ I feel that everyone who sees me must be in awe of my super-consistent rhythmic running ππΌββοΈ. Without music and due to me hearing my gasps, the stumbling steps, and my slouching shuffle I feel more tired π, more unfit and even slower than I actually am.
So it really is a complete different experience. I havenβt yet listened to βtalkingβ podcasts yet while running, but as I love listen to podcasts when not running, I am keen up have a go. But I am afraid to have yet to experience a big failure of a run, and so the stakes of using the right motivating music seem high.
Lol yes, that's what I was thinking, I need my music to take my mind off the effort π₯΅π₯΅ I think I will stick to my running playlist for now πΆπΆ
It's beautiful. I live near some wonderful woods and fields but I'm not brave enough to use them. I worry about being a lone female runner... any tips?
I walk in my local woods and before lockdown hardly ever saw anyone else and I felt safe. Then the woods got busy! They have now quietened down again and I have done one run through them but because of the hill I actually ended up walking until I got through to the other side when it levelled out and I could start running again.
I would say try it without your headphones on so that you can listen as you go, or keep the sound low. There's nothing worse than being surprised coming upon someone else unexpectedly in woodland if you are feeling a bit nervous. I've always been okay but if I had a funny feeling I would just turn round and head back. Now that I can run I actually feel safer.
Yes, and my fairy woods and my normal field route is also quite popular with dog walkers, so choosing the βrightβ time might just give you the right amount of walkers for the feeling of safety without being too crowded. But of course this might not work for more remote parts of the country.
