New route

I ran a new route this morning, no ideas of timings or distance needed to run. So with new route I did 4.17km, including warm up & cool down walks, in 32:31 minutes. My old route, which I used for all my c25k runs, the last one was 5.41km in 41:09 mins, including walks. So just need to expand new route a bit. Was nice to run somewhere different.

I am hugely impressed with your times . New routes are good because I found I was fixating on getting to certain trees or fence posts in given times , trouble was I stopped enjoying just being out the in air and running. So much psychology in this running game.

I’m looking forward to exploring new routes in the warmer spring weather . Happy running

Reading your reply, made me realise that is what I do, fixate on mile stones. This forum is great, knowing that others think similar. To know we are not alone in the challenges and thrills of running.

That’s great, well done! New routes are so refreshing. I find even adapting part of a route helpful. 😃

New routes are great - I'm still finding new ones on my doorstep after 5+ years. But even just running a route in reverse can make a big difference. I regularly used to find myself stopping in the same places and reversing runs helped put a stop to it. The thing I love now is seeing old 'markers' and sailing (usually slowly) past them with no problem.

Thank you, good idea, I might try reversing my usual route.
