on Friday there was no way i thought i would do this , but i think that was because i'd been to the osteopath on thursday!!
on saturday i felt ok so decided to go for a brisk walk to test the water for sunday, the walk was pain free π Happy days.
so the plan for sunday was to go out and start the app for my week 8 Run 2 but not presure myself to complete it.
infact, even on the warmup walk i felt a little clunky ! and was thinking this is not going to happen .
Anyway, decided to test it on the first 5 minutes of running (very slowly) and it felt ok.
yes, i felt stiff and clunky and was aware of leg/hip stiffness but no pain so decided to carry on for 10 minutes , i'm still very close to home so could bailout at anytime, my pace was of course slow !
10 minutes gone and still ok, starting to listen to the music now and try to forget my injury, then of course the halfway bell came at 14 minutes .
this was the point i decided i would now continue , of course it was not as comfortable as my previous runs but still no pain , a little uncomfortable but i had decided i could continue .
i had to laugh when the next music track came on ! Pink Floyd 'Comfortably Numb' haha
then the hill was next ! oh no ! i struggled and my pace came down even more but i kept going .
once at the top i knew i would finish the run , i was a little sore and my legs were certainly getting tired now so kept the pace slow , there would certainly be no sprint finish today !
i was surprised when Laura said that's it !! but i think that's because of course i was not at the point on my route that i was at last time with such a slow pace today .
anyway, i finished my run !!!
i will have porridge and ibuprofen for breakfast and probably a couple of days rest , but at least the light has come on at the end of the tunnel now . π¬

Ian, Iβm so pleased to read this! Youβve looked after yourself well, taken proper advice and not rushed things. Now you have been rewarded by a comfortably numb (ha!) comfortable run! At a slow pace for you (normal pace for me!). Your body obviously hasnβt forgotten the conditioning from all your previous runs and if you continue to take it steady for a while, rest well and do all of the exercises you have to do, you can start to increase your pace soon enough.
Youβre back in the game! Welcome back, runner - weβve missed you! ππππ
I think itβs a wise move to have 2 rest days for a while. You can spend the extra time youβll have on the forum, giving advice to others π. Youβve probably been doing that anyway! π
So pleased you made it safely, youβre quite an inspiration coming from the IC after a 16 day break and doing the whole run. Looking forward to seeing you get to the end. Good luck for your remaining runs.
How lovely to read this, so pleased you felt comfortable enough to run and you managed it and completed it, well done. Hopefully now it's slow steady progress for you
Fantastic to hear about your endurance/perseverance in the face of injury. I think its often 90% bloody mindedness and 10% legs! You certainly showed us grit and determination. Brilliant!
