So i was bored with my usual route and decided to find another , thanks to Birdlady64 for putting me onto 'Plotaroute.com' i plotted one about 15 minutes drive away (in fact i used to live there when i first came to shropshire over 30 years ago)
i left home at 06:05 and drove to a little layby where i parked up and did my dynamic warm up and 5 minute brisk walk and started running at 06:30
the run started in a little place called 'Park Hall' which was a housing area for either the Army or Air force officers in the war .
it has now of course been further developed with some nice new prestige properties .
i actually use the area for my initial driving lessons as its out of the way and nice and quiet.
about 3K into the run i came into a little village called Whittington which was where i used to live, it has the remains of a little caste (in the picture)
The intention on this run was to go slow, but not at my MAF HR, i find that too slow so this was kept in zone 3 and 4
it was so nice to run somewhere else without the usual visual clues as to how far i had run .
the first 5 or 6K passed by fairley easily with the novelty of being somewhere else then once i was over the 6K i knew i would finish the 10
i felt a little stiffness in my knees at around 8.5K but this soon disappeared again and the run took me back into 'Park Hall' which was near the layby where i had left my car
so a really pleasant run, nice to run near where i used to live and an enjoyable 10K
The run took 1Hr 21 with an average pace of 8:10Km an elevation gain of 40m and an average HR of 134bpm
I think 10K is a distance i enjoy (for now) haha π¬

Well done, Ian! You did say you were looking at a new route. Isnβt it great running in Zone 3, it opens the door to more possibilities. 10 miles, maybe? ππππ
Fantastic! Cracking that 2nd 10k is important I think! Sounds like a fantastic route, looks beautiful. I am also using the app to plan my next long run. I bet you'll feel great all day after that. π
Sounds a very idyllic place to run, nice pic too, and as you say not knowing the various points where you know youβve reached a certain distance, does help a lot. I didnβt realise you were a driving instructor, I always though Instructor57 was a reference to a Fitness Instructor π
Sounds a lovely run. I was planning my second 10k this morning but am brewing coffee and procrastinating at the moment. Been having a bit of hip Pain and wondering whether a few days break may be better for me. Feels like Iβm letting myself down if I donβt go though. My route is considerably less picturesque!
I want to do that too but Iβve been seduced by the speed gains of MAF π Iβll just have to see how it goes but if I donβt get anywhere after a month Iβll go back to normal.
