Week 9 Run 1 in the bag !

that took some fight with the gremlins this morning as i had been to the osteopath yesterday and didn't sleep much and was wide awake at 5:30.

went downstairs and made a cuppa, i was going to take it back to bed with me as i was tired , got back upstairs and i thought of all my friends on here (Yes, Friends !) that would also be running this morning, so i put my running gear on drank my tea went back downstairs did my dynamic warmup routine and was out of the door on my warmup walk at 6:05 😬

it felt ok, i was at a steady pace by 5 mins in (albeit a bit slow)

10 mins and feeling ok and enjoying my music, a real blast from the past with Jethro tull ! 😊

it was comfortable at this time of course as it hadn't warmed up too much.

got halfway and started thinking of my c25k journey , it .has been amazing, i ran every other day until i injured myself on week 8 run 1.

then 16 days later was able to jump straight back in at week 8 run 2, then 1 day rest and then run 3

then i almost laughed out loud as i remembered the only run i ever had to repeat , it was week 2 run 2 and my old trainers fell apart half way around and the soles came off hahaha, i had to tie them on with my laces so i could try and walk homeπŸ˜‚

while im remembering all this my run of course was just disappearing in in front of me and before i knew it i had 10 mins left and the hill to contend with .

the hill was fine, my head was in the right place and i was actually enjoying this run even though i still have some discomfort !

hill conquered and the last few minutes to go ! feeling good

of course this run is a couple of mins longer than week 8 which meant i would probably finish after another shorter hill.

i could see the finish line in my head , and i was not going to speed up to it !

Laura comes back in to tell me thats it ! 30 mins of running is over for today !

Bring on 9, 2 ! im back ! 😬

Well done finish line in sight you'll have to think of more things to think about lol! FYI I woke up at 5 then went back to sleep and then woke up at 6 and went back to sleep....

Maybe I'll run tomorrow instead lol. So really well done on not going back to bed.

Have the pains pretty much dissappeared now?

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to f1madman

Haha, believe me , I was so tempted 😁

No, the problem has not disappeared, it is however still slowly improving.

I have discomfort when I run , hence my slower pace , I had a couple of ibuprofen AFTER my run because I don't want to mask any pain if I'm running.

Then it usually settled down again .

The osteopath is happy that it's improving, she can feel I'm not as tight around the glutes as before .

It appears the problem was glutes AND piriformis.

I'm trying to tread a fine line with it at the moment but getting there slowly

What a great post! Definitely an inspiration and I’m hoping one day the the thought my slight incline doesn’t scare the living daylights out of me!

This was my second early morning run, I was surprised that I find it easier as I’m definitely not a morning person.

Thank you for the pointer on Dynamic warm up stretches as they’ve been a tremendous help.

Instructor57Graduate in reply to Lottie74

Thanks Lottie , and I'm so pleased to hear you find the dynamic warm ups help .

They certainly helped me !

That day will come Lottie , just be patient.

You will get to the point where you just do the hill without any thought !

As long as you keep going out of the door and doing your best, you will get there .

This program is amazing , I know it may sound easy to say but you just have to trust it .

It's difficult to see that though sometimes when you are going through it .

But I, just like many others on here , i thought I was going to die on week 1 πŸ˜‚

Instructor 57...

Oh, Well done, I am so pleased for you!

That must have been such a challenge today and you did it...

Well done with the hill too! Something I just cannot face!

Easy day for you now, you really do deserve it and you’re so nearly there...Good luck 😊

So pleased! This is great progress! I also ran early this morning and it was HOT! The joy of your run really shone through your post. Jethro Tull - hmmm - I might add some songs by them to my playlist, although I knew I was making progress today because I turned my music off for a while. I know I'm on a roll when I run without music!

Thank you !

Glad you had s good run also !

I appreciate you comments πŸ‘

Yes, I only started playing music from week 6 run 3 I thought it would help with having no more intervals .

My first music track on my first 25 min run was link Floyd's 'Echoes' it's a 24 minute track .

So I didn't even look at my watch or pace untill the track ended , then Laura cane in to tell me id finished πŸ˜‚

Brilliant! πŸ‘πŸ‘ Well done Ian

I love how you sneaked off for an early morning run instead of climbing back in bed with your cuppa..... but when the running calls you just gotta go! 🀣

Staying close by to read your posts on your last 2 runs - can’t wait to read it!

After your injury the celebration will be all the sweeter!
