Suddenly found a run really difficult - I had been pushing-on at the end of the last 2x 25 minute runs, but was slowing badly yesterday. I guess its the heat or maybe underestimated that 25 mins needs to be respected still. Feet up today for the heatwave and I'll be back out on Friday.
Week 7 Run 2: Suddenly found a run really... - Couch to 5K
Week 7 Run 2
Run early, tank up with water before you run.
For my part if I had run later I would have given up. So don,t beat yourself up everybody except the superheroes slow up or wait for a cooler day.
Well done getting to the end of a tough one... these runs challenge us mentally, and just like the physical side of things this is no bad thing.
Yes, the heat (and humidity) are making things really tough out there. I’ve been running a couple of years now and it’s been anything but easy for me.
My second observation is that although all your runs are the same right now, the weekly load on your legs is increasing with each run. I always look at my last week’s running on a rolling run by run basis to see this. Finding the middle of week 7 isn’t easy is pretty common.
Finally... if you look at things like 10k to marathon plans or 5k race plans, you’ll see that they have a weekly “long run”. This run is what it says, and is supposed to be run at the slowest pace of the week. Here on C25K every run is your long run, and so should be respected as such... the time to push for pace isn’t any week of the plan.
Enjoy the stupidly hot weather today... tomorrow should be cooler.
We’re at exactly the same place and I’m going to do my w7 run3 on Friday too (would have gone today but it’s too hot). Both runs this week, the first 10 minutes were really hard for me then I just seem to find a (very slow🤪) pace and keep going. It is tough but look how far we’ve come since week 1... we’re flipping amazing!!! 🥳 I started doing the knee strengthening exercises thanks to the advice on here so I think that might be helping. Good luck on Friday! You can definitely do it as you’ve done it twice already now.
Yeah, the progress is pretty cool. I tried last year and flopped at w4, so Im well pleased how things are going. Unbeknownst to me, one of my friends just "graduated" from W9, so that's given me the impetus to get this all completed. He says is "plain-ish sailing" from here on. Im worried the sting is in the "ish". The post on this thread from Unfitnomore about the total "rolling toll" of runs is interesting and I had not thought of it like that. Id previously been mentally building-up for the longer runs so I think r3 will go fine if I do that. Good luck for your run on Friday, and its nice to find someone at the same stage. Im already thinking of needing to add a bit more distance on for W8 and have a little detour in mind. Best of luck.
Ain’t no shame in sitting out the warm weather, I ran Tuesday and don’t intend to go again until Saturday 😊
Best of luck to you too and I take my hat off to you for giving it another shot. That shows great mental strength and determination. I’ll think of you tomorrow when I’m doing run 3 and inwardly cheering you on too
