Not going to lie that did not feel easy, averaged 3km on each walk/run, whenever tried in the past always suffered shin splints but this time invested in some quality trainers and a Foam Roller! At the minute finding the breathing hard but I know it’s going to get easier, just got to get through these early stages! Onto week 2!
First week done!: Not going to lie that did not... - Couch to 5K
First week done!
Great start m8. Keep it up...
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help with shin splint prevention.
If you cannot breathe easily, just slow down.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done Garysmith, onwards and upwards, breathing will come naturally, you get into a rhythm with that....I take deep breath in then purse my lips slightly as I exhale so I breath out slower, and my feet seem to hit the floor twice when I breathe in and twice when I breathe out....but each to their own. Good Luck with your journey 🏃♂️👍
Well done for getting running...try not to go too fast and injure yourself. Take care. Happy running. 👣
Welcome. Hopefully nobody lied to you and said that it would be easy! Great job. The above linked guide will help make things easier, but it does stay challenging. You’ve done the toughest part though now, you’re up off that couch and running. Enjoy week 2 and the rest of your journey.
