Graduated from the programme in May and have mostly kept the running up (apart from a blip at the end of July).
About two weeks ago, I remembered that I’d rashly signed up for the 5k at the Bournemouth Marathon Festival, which focussed my mind rather!
Anyway have been training again for the last couple of weeks and this morning I ran my first ever full 5k.
I don’t think I’ll ever get down to doing 5k in 30 minutes...this morning I took 50 minutes but do you know what - the feeling of achievement to actually run that distance is amazing.
5 more Sundays before the event so that’s 5 more 5ks to get in (including one in Jersey) and that will make me even more confident that I won’t feel like a fool/fraud in completing the “race”

Fabulous job. You will be more than ready when the race comes around
I can very much identify with your post I recently graduated and can only manage 3k in 30 mins and I'm sure it will take me many weeks to reach 5k so reading your post has spurred me on as I was calculating 5k would take me about an hour with the speed I run !! good luck with your race and congratulations on the 5k x
The 2 parkruns I did after graduation back in April both were about 48 min, well behind nearly everyone else. Running has been a little hit and miss due to such hot weather but I have kept it up with aim of trying to gradually speed up with some autumn patkruns planned. Slow and steady better than not at all. Haven’t we done well!😀
