Hi. I have looked at this forum several times and been humbled by the grit and determination shown by many members and the support given by others. I am not much of a poster but I think that I should offer my experience so far, in case it may help somebody.
I am 72 and started C25K after lock down. Primarily I wanted to improve my aerobic capacity so that I can walk up fells other than at a very slow pace. However I think that regular doses of C25K may have resulted in running addiction … I do not want it to end.
I have never been a runner. I was, and am, fearful of injuries; I read, marked, learned and inwardly digested the excellent guide on this forum and have followed it religiously – fighting down the temptation to avoid rest days etc. I have done exactly what Laura prescribes and have had no problems so far– touch wood for the future.
C25K appears to do exactly what it says on the tin. As Laura says: the training is as much mental as physical. If any other old ‘has-beens or never-wases’ like me are considering C25K then please give it a good try – trust the program and believe that you can do it. I was surprised that I could happily trot for twenty minutes after five weeks.
Long live Laura and may she lead me on to 5K!

What an inspirational post FL! I’m sure there are many people who will be very glad to read it. Well done on smashing that 5/3 run it’s a real milestone!
Long live Laura, I agree with you, I ran run 3 of week 5 exactly two years ago today, congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊 🏃🏾
No, Laura is a recording but a real person, she has ran several 5K runs, perhaps longer runs too, not like Alexa on other apps who is actually a computer voice.
Well done for getting started. I think there are quite a few like us. I'd been thinking about it for years, began to feel quite low after two weeks of lockdown, then started C25K on 10th April and I've not looked back, now at week 6 run 2. Aged 65 I just wish I had had the courage to start this programme sooner.
Thanks. I started on 20th April. I hope to complete W6R2 this evening. It is good to know that there are others like us. I hope it continues to go well for you.
