Why is it that I find the first 3 - 4 minutes of running is the hardest?? Lungs felt as though they were going to explode, but... get that out of the way and the two eight minute runs felt damned good. Kept my pace reeeaally slow though. 😄

Week 5 Run 2
Just getting ready to go out the door for my W5R2 too. Know entirely what you mean. The first bit of the run is always the hardest. Have spoken with a friend of mine who is a big runner (marathons...eek!) and he said the same. I think it just takes a while for the brain to engage and everything to warm up, loosen up, to find our pace, to get in to it, literally. Will be interesting to see what everyone else has to say.
Hi JaxO, I asked a similar question recently. Thought I was weird because I found the first runs of the day harder than the others. But apparently I'm normal - as are you! The first ten minutes (ish) of a run are known as the ToxicTen. This is where your body gets used to being pushed up to a new level of activity, then you settle into it. Hope this helps. The answer I got was a bit more sciency!
