Did my first run on Tuesday and found it very difficult , next one is today and I’m excited but also dreading it a bit ! Was it the same for everyone ?
Just started : Did my first run on Tuesday and... - Couch to 5K
Just started
I started week 1 last week and really struggled! Before I started I could barely run to the end of the drive! On my first run I couldn’t complete the last 3 runs. BUT I made sure I did the other 2 sessions every other day and I’ve just done W2R1 and managed all 6 90 second runs surprisingly well!
Keep going - it gets (a little bit!) more manageable! 💪🏻
Yes I was like this at the start but persevere with it, just go as slow as you can to start with I couldn’t run for toffee but I’m now on week 7 and running for 25 minutes and I’m not a natural runner. I’m struggling still but I’m more motivated to go out now. I’m currently suffering with my shins so dropped my sessions to twice a week to avoid injuring myself and allowing my shins to recover. Keep going it’s worth it!!!
I’m just about to start week 5, I cannot believe I’ve got this far! I thought I’d end up just repeating week 1! x
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
You may find following the link in the guide to the post about mental approach helpful.........none of this should be dreaded.
Enjoy your journey.
Keep going!! I have just finished run 1 in week 9 and although it is tough you will surprise yourself on what you can achieve! Sure it has been said many times but the main barrier is in your head...banish the negative thoughts and go and smash it 🤩
