Hi. I did my first run today after reading the Observer supplement on running. I lost 2 stone since start of year but have ground to a halt and started going up again. Hopefully this will be the kickstart I need to keep getting in shape. I really enjoyed it actually and loved the trainers encouragement.

Hey Tom. Welcome to the best running club in the world if anyone can help you then all these wonderful people here can. Which coach did you choose? -we all have our own favourites.

Let us know how you are doing and if you need help, advice, encouragement, tech advice etc then there is someone here who will help if they possibly can. Watch out for words of wisdom from Oldfloss and IannodaTruffe they are the site mentors. Following their advice will keep you happily in the programme. I hope you enjoy your second run out. Happy running

Hey. Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to the support this group can provide on that journey to not hating running!

You know you'd be surprised how it sneaks up on you. Before you know it you are wondering why lycra isn't acceptable daywear, why you must have more trainers and whether you can sneak in a run, without your friends and family knowing.... Good luck with it the future is sweaty!

Lycra not acceptable daywear? What hellish dystopia are you living in, Jan?

in reply toRignold

Ah the dystopian country where people don't squat before dinner. I know, it sounds horrid doesn't it....

Oh God where have I arrived? 😊

Oops I forgot to mention Rignold, he is the squatmeister. There isn't any ill that cannot be cured by squats. But you're a newbie, so you're safe for the time being!

That supplement in the Observer today was good wasn't it. I'm glad it got you out the door and will look forward to seeing how your runs go. I started the programme with the NHS app and had Sarah Milican as my trainer but then discovered the podcasts and Laura, who I loved. I still use Week 9 run 3 podcast from time to time just to hear Laura urging me on.

You'll get lots of support in here, so good luck and enjoy.

I'm the same. Lost 1st 13lb since January but now stuck. Did my first cto5k run today. Felt more like a shuffle than a run but at least it's a start ☺ good luck

Thanks for your message. Go for it. Reading some of these posts I don't think it's going to be easy. Like lots of people here I like the idea of being a runner but have never really enjoyed running itself. I'd love to get through that and be one of those people that really look forward to it.

Hi, Tomstevenson63, I can, from my experience with gaining and losing weight, recommend that you google WFPB because it worked for me. Like Laura, it works slow and steady, but for sure it works.

Best,

Liisa
