I just started this app this week, I haven't ran since school which was like 18 years ago!
I never thought I'd make it through day one but I'm actually kinda proud that I did, but 1 minute run for me defo isn't easy, does it get easier? I cant imagine being able to run for more than a minute at a time 😬
Also my shins hurt 😔 any advice?
Thanks
Sarah x

Congrats on your first run Sarah. I'm only a few runs ahead of you (just finished week 1 today) so I cant offer a lot of advice other than following the recommended stretching and hydrating (in this guide: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... has helped me with sore muscles after the first run. I can only really tell you that run 3 felt much better than run 1 this week I hope that offers some comfort.
Good luck and keep going, it was a huge step to start the programme. Hopefully we'll graduate around the same time.
I really struggled for the first run in the first week and suffered with stiff calf muscles but I’ve incorporated stretching and better hydration and it has helped (I think).
I started week two today and it wasn’t too bad - I still can’t see me running much more than 90 seconds though without a break!
I will be honest with you - for me it got easier as soon as I bought new running shoes. That made the world of difference . It stopped my shins, heel, ankle, knees and everything hurting. Until then I was in agony. I guess my old (dad style as I am one) trainers just didn't cut the mustard.
Well done for starting it - hang in there - and use this forum for support its excellent.
Well done for getting started. Yes, it does get easier. I graduated in August and still cant believe I'm now running for 30mins, something I never thought was possible. You definitely need to read the admins post as it has loads of great advice. Keep at it and happy running x
Hi, it does get easier, I was the same as you and found the 1 min run hard, but the plan is so well structured if you just follow it and run regularly, it will come. I graduated in August and I have now just started the Magic plan to run 10k, I was the person who would not even run for a bus. You can do this. I found a foam roller helped my aching legs and a soak in the bath, and keep hydrated. I think our bodies do get use to it. Good luck.
