My hubby and I just started Cto5k last Friday, and have completed our 2nd run today! The app is great for us - do'able, but a challenge...!

Fingers crossed we make it to week 9 with our goals to get fit and trim 🀞

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Great to have you along for the long RUN! When we first started, that one minute run nearly killed me. Now we do 5K three times a week and walk on the other fours days. It can be quite daunting if you have never really run before and if you have run but had a break. But follow the course, redo runs as needed until you feel OK to move on. Yes that takes more than nine weeks, but this is setting you up for the rest of your life. Muscle strength, lung capacity and a feeling of well being.

At the moment, you may feel like I said we did, knackered after the run! Remember that. In just a few short weeks, you will look back and marvel at the difference. That is great motivation to carry on in those dark days when you really don't want to go out. I am 69 and my wife is nearly 67. We both haven't run since school, so this was a real challenge for us.

But you will be ok, cos we believe YOU GOT THIS!

Thank you for all your messages πŸ₯°

Today was the hardest yet πŸ˜₯

We both struggled so much! my hips and thighs were really burning! This is our 3rd run in week 1 😣 zzz

Our next run is Thursday and I am not looking forward to it already!!

I've heard that a lot of people are doing week 1 twice rather than go straight to week 2?? Is that something that is recommended if you're struggling? xx

Not what you're looking for?
