The first day that I ran, on the C25K plan with podcast I didn't manage and had to do it a couple more times before I got there, now I'm on week 5 and feeling overall pretty good about my progress. I've had to repeat a few days over the weeks but I'm not in any hurry, so as long as you're doing something keep going! Good luck.
It's really exciting to hear about people taking up the C25K challenge. Having come out the other side relatively(!) unscathed, I think what you're doing is such a great thing.
One thing I would say, if you're struggling to complete the sessions, maybe just slow down a little bit. You'll hear the phrase "slow and steady" on here a LOT (particularly from a certain Oldfloss ) , but it's really true. Even if you're running at a walking pace, that's fine. You're running, you're actually doing it.
I think back to my week 1 now, I remember thinking a mixture of elation, and also "that was just murder, why would anyone go back for run 2??" Trust me and all of us on here when we say that you really can do it. Just go at your own pace, don't rush, it's not a race, and don't forget to turn to us here for support, we'll do whatever we can.
Take care and all the best!
Neil
Many thanks - so complete the thirty minutes, but slower?
I would say so, yes if you’re starting out on C25K you’re unlikely to be a fast runner quite yet!! It seems to be the general view round here that it’s far more important to exercise for 30 minutes than to run fast. By working just at the top edge of your current ability, you should be able to sustain the exercise, but pushing yourself will help your muscles to develop and your overall fitness level to increase.
Hey I’m no expert though, so hopefully much wiser people on here know the details
Thanks 🙂
I did it - w1r1, all of it lol. One more then I’ll try w2r1 - eek!
