Completed week 2 but still just can’t run up any gradient.... no really I can’t ... will this improve? I am 55 & 3 stone overweight....
I’m a slow jogger.... but I am oddly enjoying it !!!

Congratulations on completing week 2, just take all the runs slowly, no hurry, try and find a flatter route for your runs if possible, as time goes on and you progress through the program you will find the runs get easier, hopefully, onwards and upwards to week 3.
Walk up the hills, if you walk them enough times you will one day be able to run up them because you will have built the strength in your legs
Well done keep going it’s well worth it
Avoid the hills for a bit, they can be a later challenge. Only bite off so much 👍
Good luck, go really slow. I had a hill on my early run and it had a bend. Took me ages to realise crossing the road and running on the inside curve was easier 🙄
You have done a couple of hours exercise..........you do require patience to go alongside this amazing programme..........of course it will get better.
Stick with it and follow the advice in the guide to the plan.
My new tactic is to run up a gradient as far as I possible can (my lungs are on fire at this point!) and then turn around and run back the way I came. Each run I try and run a little further up the hill. The plus side of inclines is that you also get to run down hill 😬
I’m on week one and need to lose a stone a half so let’s motivate each other. I live on a mountain side so got no flat running close by. Speed up a little bit up the hills but only in short bursts then in the run stretch just take longer but slower strides. This stretches essential tendons which will allow you to run later but will result in you walking faster. I’m 5.1 and due to doing this can walk faster than my husband. Don’t throw your arms into the stride throw your whole hips forward. It speeds you up without being painful
When is your next run? I’m out at 1pm tomorrow (close to my house)
8.30 am tomorrow.... I’ll report in !!!
I still can’t run up hills, my legs won’t let me. So I walk fast up them and continue the running at the top.
