Week 6 Run 2

Leytonunfitrunner profile image

Did the second run of week 6 today .. My legs are ok, but I seem to get very out of breathe towards the end and can’t get a breathing rhythm , and I can’t breathe in through my nose and out through the mouth like they suggest ... any advice?

I did the run though and did enjoy it !

Well done.

There is advice about breathing in the guide to the plan.

Try slowing down.

👋🏻 I’ve just done the same run this morning and am struggling with the breathing too. I wondered if I’m concentrating on it too much and over thinking it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Forget the nose thing. Just breath as your body wants to.

Yes Thankyou .. the nose thing is throwing me , so I’ll just ignore it

I'm at the same point in the programme as you. Feel surprised and pleased to have got this far. My struggle is with the first 5-10 minutes, not least because I can't avoid most of it being up a slight hill/slope that most people would not even notice! I'm more and more convinced, though, that the problem is in my thinking. So, yes, enjoy breathing in whatever way gets you over the challenge!

I also have to endure an long incline on my runs, can't avoid them where I live, and I definitely find them harder and I get more out of breath going up them. I'm hoping the more I get on the more I'll be able to cope with them lol good luck with the rest of your runs 😊

Well done! I found W6R2 a bit of a puff so I was anxious about the 25 minute run today. In fact it was fine - a bit warm in the evening sun, but non-stop, clocking up just over 3k. I'm now confident about the 5k goal, even though the time might be modest.

Ah good to know I have to run first thing so will do my 25 minute tomorrow , I go very slowly and do t measure distance , but maybe I should get a Fitbit so I can ?

I use an Apple Watch but Fitbit would be just as good. Gives you more motivation when you see your rate (minutes per km) reducing.

Start slowly tomorrow and you’ll be fine (& maybe even enjoy it - I’m currently wallowing in a bath of endorphins!)

Sounds good ..

You could try downloading the strava app to track distance as it is free and you probably have your phone on you when you run anyway?

Yes I downloaded it just before my run this morning , so it will be ready for my next run!
