Week 2 Run 2

This is my first post so hi all. I am feeling just a little bit proud today as am into my second week of C25K and am still going! Having never done anything like this before and at 54 I can’t say I’m finding it easy ... but I am finding it rewarding. I think I might be the slowest jogger in history but find I get sore shins if I don’t concentrate on my technique (or lack of!!). I have good shoes, am wearing calf compression and doing the stretches etc and the discomfort doesn’t last as long as in W1. Just wondered how other week 2’ers are getting on!

You've done the hardest part, well done! We're ALL slow joggers, that's how it's done. Slow regular jogs build up the capillaries in your legs, and rest days are crucial for that to happen.

The things you learn on here you never thought you'd need 🤣

Happy running and Have a Nice Day ☀️

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you, I am trying to digest the really helpful info in it. I didn’t find it till after my first run which may explain why I had to repeat that one! But onwards and upwards (well, forwards hopefully!) cheers

I recommend bookmarking it and using it as a reference as it all begins to make sense, with experience.

I did exactly the same run yesterday. I also run very slowly (I’m sure I can walk faster!) and I really have to push myself to do the last two runs.....especially as the penultimate one is going uphill. I’ve learned to live in the moment as even the idea of running for 5 minutes at a time fills me with panic at the moment.

I woke up this morning and every muscle in my body ached but once I got up and got moving, I felt fine.

Good luck to you and let’s just keep on keeping on’. 😁

Thanks Lucialu, I feel exactly the same! But then compared to my first attempt at week 1 I can see how far I have come already. Uphill is brave 😊. I am daunted by the thought of 5 minutes too but I know it feels easier if I try and relax into it. Good luck to you too ... and well done ✅
