Week 1 Run 2

Wasn't sure if I was going to make it out today, I had to begin the ground campaign for the weekly shop, but survived and headed out.

I did manage to get distracted at the end of the second last run, and completely missed Laura telling me to stop, I did think I was flagging a bit at the end... Will turn the music down for the next run. I also managed to get my first running injury (yay, I think) my big toe rubbing pulled the nail out a little at the side.

Still enjoyed it and looking forward to Monday/Tuesday when I can do the next one.

Well done for surviving the shopping and the run! Though ouch! to the toenail incident! Have you got good, padded running socks? Perhaps tape the toenail for your next run to avoid further carnage! Keep going. 😁

I have ordered some new ones, I have always used Nike ones with quite a padded sole, but ordered some running socks from sportsshoes.com. Me being Scottish and them being 80% off made my mind up :). I also have a healthy (pre-armageddon) supply of thick plasters, my previous Asics shoes blistered my heels every time without them, I never ever broke them in, even up to the point they fell apart...

👍 My boyfriend is Scottish and 80% off is music to his ears! Hope your feet hold up next run. Another poster mentioned shoe size - that is an important point. You should go up by at least half a size (or more, depending on the shoe - mine are 1.5 sizes bigger!) Having said that, I ran weeks 1-5 in too tight inherited running shoes. 😱

Watch out for toe nail problems! I did C25K last year (first time round) and developed in growing toe nails 🦶 which became infected ....... after chiropodist and podiatrist care I got back into the programme in the new year.

Are your trainers a size bigger than your normal shoes?

No, I bought them before I started and chose them to fit like i do with normal shoes.... I'll see how it goes over the next week and decide if I need to get new ones, and this time see about getting gait analysis before choosing.

Best thing I did was to be dragged along to a running shop by my daughter to get gait analysis done. They didn’t give me the hard sell and selected 3 pairs for me to try. Ended up with mizuno trainers for over pronators which have been brilliant. Good investment (me being a Yorkshire lass I like bargains too!) 😂
