Week 2- run 1.

DEAD. Had to force myself out of bed this morning and then the run was really hard, my legs where aching and I felt tired early on but I pushed through and completed it! Hoping my next run will be easier, although I’m struggling to find the time to fit the next one in for a few days :(

I’m still enjoying it and know I’m going to have bad days and my body has now stopped aching which is a positive!

Did anyone else notice a big jump from 1 week to the next??

Yeah, I found going from W2R3 to W3R1 was a killer but then W3R2 was easier.

To me they were all big jumps. Never thought I would be able to get through each week. Here I am on W9R1 thinking the same 🤣. You can definitely do it, you are stronger than you think 🏃🏻‍♀️💪🏻

The jumps are big... but you got through run one, bloody well done. Run 2 will probably seem easier, but I can’t guarantee that. The early weeks are a case of mind over matter a lot of the time, while you wait for the muscles to get more efficient. The middle weeks have a couple of runs that challenge the brain, legs should be ready, then it’s mind and body to the finish line.

Lack of aching now is a good sign, I’m on week 3 and I got aches, and my aches have aches 😂😂😂

Week three nearly finished me. I remember begging Sarah to tell me to stop.and barely moving through the runs toward the end of each one, and squinting so hard my eyes were nearly shut. It hurt. It hurt so much, I nearly quit. But as I didn't, you won't. I'm not gonna promise blue skies and smooth sailing, but it does get easier as you understand what aches and why, and what your limits are. And then go and ignore them.

Yes, it did come as a surprise as I didn’t look at the specific run. But someone on this forum did say to take it slow and steady. Even when tempted to go fast, because of the fast tempo of song I was listening to. I don’t know about you, but I have come to realise that “running” takes discipline and C25K is tutoring us to develop good habits. 🙂

Got the fright of my life with that word 'dead' at the beginning of your post in capital letters, OMG I thought, surely no one has died running a 5K, much relieved that did not happen, I am sure that many people do feel like being dead first thing in the morning, but I find that by doing some yoga exercises, that dead feeling goes very quickly. Glad that you pushed through your week 2 run 1 and completed it without any problems You talk about a big jump between certain weeks. I was a bit worried when I was doing the course about week 2 to 3, week 4 to 5 and especially run 3 of week 5, run 2 of week 5 is 8 minutes and then run 3 of the same week is 20 minutes, that really does worry many people but once they run it and 99% do, they feel really happy after completing it, it is a big milestone in the C25K training course, best of luck to you in your running journey.

To be honest I found w1 and 2 quite difficult. I did find having a banana beforehand and having a drink of juice while I was running helped me. Just keep going, have your rest days. It gets better and you have done amazing for starting this. Keep going, it really works xx
