Week 1 Run 2

Attempted my 2nd run today. I still haven’t completed it but at least I got out there and ran more than the last time. I did 6 x 1 minute runs and the brisk walks in between.

I did go to see the practice nurse at my GP surgery to check about running with my achey knee. Initially she advised me not to run at all but then backed down and advised me to be gentle and monitor things. I don’t honestly think she had a clue. Anyway, I went out and after the first run the pain disappeared

I am trying not to feel bad about not completing the full run but I do still feel a bit of a fraud.

I am genuinely chuffed with myself and hope I can keep going.

Did anyone else struggle to complete the first run in their first week? I think it’ll take me a couple of weeks to get week 1 done 🤨

Lots of folk have struggled... just keep it slow and keep it steady and listen to that knee....

Aches and pains are to be expected..but never run through real pain and we do know the difference:)

Just take it gently... there really is no rush :)

Ah thank you, I will do just that regarding my knee. I had been reading other people’s posts about week 1 and they all seem to be saying that they had managed the run ok. I will be happy if I manage to keep going 😀

Believe me... I have been on the forum since 2015 and there have been many, many many folk who have struggled...honestly.... :) Just relax... stay focused and do believe in yourself... :)

Don’t worry about how long it takes to do week 1 Bluebell! Someone on the forum took 9 weeks before they managed it! If you can do one extra minute each time, that’s progress - and you’re out there doing it, not sitting at home on the couch so we’ll done you!

Thank you, it’s good to hear that I’m not the only slow coach. My aim is to do a little more each time. I am sitting on the couch recovering now though 🤣

Don’t be daft! The fact that you’ve started is fantastic and you should be proud of that. My wife repeated W1 several times until she was fully up to moving on and after all, we’re all doing this voluntarily so it’s not like you have to do it all in 9 weeks or else!! Keep going at your own pace and enjoyment levels 👍🏃‍♂️
