My last post suggested there'd be nothing too eventful to write about as the runs themselves become less eventful. Just as well as there is enough eventful stuff out there already with this nasty disease affecting the world. First and foremost, my well wishes to you my fellow C25K'ers and your families; I hope your own journeys over the next few months remain uneventful too.
Aside from a shoe lace working loose with 5 minutes left, feeling the lace brushing the calf of the passing leg, hoping that it didn't unravel before I'd finished (which would have required some serious toe crunching to keep the foot in the shoe), I now realise that I am a better runner in the evenings, than mornings. Is that a thing? Do us runners have a preferred time of day to run? Time will tell.
A wonderful evening all things considered; perfect running conditions and when MJ says 'You're halfway, think about changing pace', the head said, 'Hey! I feel really good, let's up the tempo, just a tad'. However, the legs said, 'No, we're good thanks, we're keeping it right here'. It's a bizarre feeling, emotional almost. It's like they're on auto-pilot, like they are the legs on an automaton, consistent, regular, literally running like clockwork. I'm kind of not in control, but I'm in total control at the same time.
I was so in the zone, had great momentum and rhythm for the whole run. No I couldn't (or wouldn't) speed up, but hey! I didn't slow down either. I'm winning this 9 week battle, and with one week, 3 runs to go - I'm gonna miss the old C25K challenges, and my new BFF Mr (Sir) Michael Duane Johnson - what a legend to have guide you. Moreover, I'll miss this community, this forum and the wonderful encouraging words of support and the stories of those around me.
Save for anything drastic happening, injury or otherwise, this time next week I'll be done :). I just hope and trust the final 3 runs will be equally as uneventful as this evening's run, but there are more important things to be concerned about just now.
Keep safe fellow runners!
