So I graduated last week and wanted to keep the momentum going..... went for my usual run on Monday and I managed to do the 30mins (although I missed Lauraโs voice of encouragement) but today I went and just couldnโt get into a rhythm and felt like I was limping so I stopped and turned around and went straight home.
I dunno did I give up too easily or did I just need an extra day of rest? Maybe Iโm being too hard on myself and should just try again tomorrow after Iโve had a better night sleep ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Sorry to hear that. Can I commiserate with you? I went for my first post graduation run today and I didnโt enjoy it at all. I missed Jo and the app. I found it hard to get into a rhythm and I wanted to give up.
Sorry to hear about your run too. Maybe itโs just feeling a little lost without the app guiding us ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ but I will try again and I will be loading the C25K app for the extra encouragement.
Just a suggestion if you are missing the guide - I recently discovered the Nike Run Club app that has a bunch of guided runs based on distance or time, or type of run - I have found them very encouraging so might be worth having a look!
You havenโt failed you went for a run and run for 30 min well done on your run HackneyGal keep going we have days that doesnโt feel good but you got out there and run ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐
Don' t give up. Set yourself a goal. For the past 9 weeks you've had goal to aim for, now thats gone. I grad. Last week and have done two consolidation runs. I am keeping to my usual schedule of every other day. My goals are:
1. Run 5k each time even if it exceeds 30 mins
2. Run the local Park Run course as practice. I intend to start the Park Run in a few weeks time.
I still listen to wk9r3 but just keep running until I complete the 5k even though it exceeds the 30mins.
So set youself a goal(s) and keep consolidating till the habit sticks. Good luck.
I think I need to write down my plan (I like visual things), I did intend to keep my running days the same and run for 30mins each time. I will look into local park run courses. I will be playing W9R3 the next time I go for a run.
Too hard in yourself 100%. Youโve just completed a tough running plan, and you got a tough run today (happens to the best of us) without your in ear coach. Also, you didnโt sleep well... thatโs going to mess that run up so much. Well done for getting out there.
You can still have Laura for encouragement if she helps... nothing wrong with dialling up W9R3 and having her with you. Thereโs other coaches out there too... I love Coach Bennett on Nike Run Club, he has a 30 minute run where he coaches you almost every step of the way, telling you how best to do the run... give it a try if you feel coaching will help you right now.
Not sure how long you ran for... Iโd be taking a rest day and going again on Friday if it was more than a couple of minutes. Sometimes runs suck (coach Bennett even has a run called SUCKcessโ for the next time out), but generally that next run is smoother and easier.
Never beat yourself up over a run, just celebrate getting out there and crossing the start line, and relax before the next one.
Thank you and I will keep this in mind when I next go out.
I did jump the gun and booked myself into a 5K run on Sunday so maybe thatโs why Iโm feeling pressured ๐ but I will do what I can and continue to be proud of what Iโve achieved so far.
I used the week 9 run a few times after graduating because I missed the structure and the week 9 run is perfect for consolidating. After that I switched to Nike Run Club, It's a free app and there are a big selection of coached runs ranging from very short to very long. There are even some in there for when you need motivating. Try the "I Need a Win" Run. They are a bit American and can be somewhat cheesy but hey it's something to listen to with a structure. I listen to various podcasts now and find those distracting and just get on with the run.
I havenโt long graduated myself but I mix my runs I go out 3runs a week and I do 3.5k and 5to6k run and 7k runs the running worlds your oyster run with what you are happy with I been wanting to a park run myself but got no confidence and I am stupid because I run 5k regular donโt get yourself down on your runs do what makes you happy ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ
Wow sounds like your doing amazing ๐๐ฝ. Not stupid at all, sometimes it can be daunting doing something new. Your still getting out there and thatโs the most important thing ๐๐ฝ
Sorry to hear you are feeling down, HackeyGal. You may of heard this...it's probably in a dozen of these posts but FAIL is just First Attempt At Learning and that's all it is. We all are learning and each time something does not go to plan we just have to learn from elements of it, move on and forget the rest. Wishing you all the best. Well done for posting so honestly...Great to learn from each other too. ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐โโ๏ธ
