Just did my first C25K run - more like very slow jog, but am feeling really pleased I actually did it. Waited until it was dark as did not want to be seen.
Week one, day one: Just did my first C25K run... - Couch to 5K
Week one, day one

Awesome. 'Slow jog' is absolutely the way to go.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Enjoy your journey.

Excellent stuff - that first run is still the hardest run I've done so very well done you!
Well done on getting started on the C25K program. Get ready to get addicted π

Well done! Slow jog is perfect, for this programme, go slow and then slow down more. Itβs about doing the time. Roll on day 2!
Just finished week 1 myself, feeling the benefits already, be proud when your running, you're doing something that a lot of people wont do. Keep it up

Well done. You did the hardest bit of the programme when you put your trainers on and went out the front door. π
Never be embarrassed about exercising- other runners will respect you and anyone who does make a comment is likely jealous of you

Well done! Slow jogging is the way to go in my book. On this attempt, my third over the years, I've managed to get to and have just started week 8 injury free by following the Japanese Slow Jog method slowjogging.wordpress.com

Oh AG66, well done. You started...You star! That's it, you are in the gang now. πββοΈπ€πββοΈπ€πββοΈπ€πββοΈπ

Well done! You will find that jogging leaves you in a good mood! I started mid January and I followed advice about Japanese slow jogging, lots of info on YouTube. Going slowly without bobbing up and down was a good way for me to start jogging at 70 without any problems. I've got to week 7 run 3 now.
Well done, thatβs the hardest thing to do! Iβve done the first day of week three today π
I did exactly the same I want to go again tonight but been advised to skip a day
Skipping a day is vital so your muscles can repair micro tears. I've found that it also keeps me eager to get out next day so when run time comes around I'm feeling refreshed and ready for it.
I did have a couple weeks when I ran almost every day but I started to feel tired and wasn't enjoying my runs. Resting between days quickly remedied that!
Happy running Jb45

When I started running for the first time, outdoors, I felt very self conscious. I don't feel that way any more: other runners know what a great effort you're making and usually give a positive nod or smile. I've even had smiles from dog walkers in the park and at least one positive comment.
Your running is for you and no one else. No one else's opinion matters. You're doing this great thing for yourself. You know what you're putting into it, what it's taking from you and what you're getting out of it. You reap the rewards - the sense of freedom, the exhilaration and joy, the health benefits.
The time of day you run isn't what really matters. What really matters is that you got out there and did it:
Yay Youπ₯³
Wish you many happy runs as you continue to follow the program.
I did my first run week 1 yesterday too. I also wait until it is dusk because I don't feel confident whilst I am still finding the stamina hard. Once I can jog with ease for a couple of minutes at a time I will feel less self-conscious! Well done us

Well done, keep it up. I understand not wanting to be seen. Hopefully you'll soon feel proud enough to not care- you're lapping everyone on the couch, and you feel the physical and mental benefits soon. πββοΈπ
