Week 1 done!

Just completed week 1, yeay! Found all 3 days really hard work but pushed through. Thigh muscles and shins aching and I find it hard to get my breath back between each run. Think I will need to repeat week 1 before moving on to the next stage, but at least I've got this far 🏃‍♀️

Hi 👋🏻 congratulations on completing your first week of the program 😀

If you’re finding it hard to get your breath back between runs it may be that you’re starting off too fast. One of the keys to success is starting off super slow and then slowing down again. This should ensure that you’re completing each run comfortably. Speed will come eventually with time.

Keep posting here for help, advice and encouragement. We’ll cheer you along 🙌🏼 Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the advice. I already feel like I'm running super slow. I'm only 5'3" with short legs so they never carry me fast 🤣. Chest felt really tight after day 1 but already improving after day 3. Think it's just due to being totally unfit in the first place 🙂

Really well done on completing the hardest week of the program.

I have to echo what Rhedeg2019 says. Slow down! You're going too fast!

My advice would be, dont repeat week 1.

You've done the run 3 times now, so you're ready to move on to week 2. However, you need to start out much, much slower. If you have plenty of energy left at the end, that's the time to kick up the pace.

Remember, its absolutely not about pace. Dont let the name of the program put you off. If you can do 5k at the end of the program, then you've joined the 10%. Most people dont make that. The real goal is to get you running for 30 minutes.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

I'm right behind you! Plan to complete week 1 tomorrow. Maybe as others have said, you should slow down a little. I feel embarrassed because I run quite slowly and did the last run using Japanese slow jog but oddly enough that seemed harder. Good luck with week 2. 😀
