Well that’s week 1 complete and I didn’t even think I’d manage that, not quite sure how I’m going to manage running longer than a minute though!
I’m curious to hear how people started out, running alone or with company. I’ve took my 10 year old daughter out with me this week but went alone tonight and somehow seemed tougher?

I run alone as I have nobody to go out with and after 4 weeks I am getting used to it.
It is hard to think that only 3 weeks ago I felt exactly how you do now... wondering how you will ever run for 90 seconds but you can do it.... slow and steady
Well done for getting started and keeping going! I've always run alone, I like to find my pace and I'm not good at either keeping up with others or worrying that I'm holding them back! 😬😆
I'm always impressed when people can run with others.
Perhaps it was tougher because you weren't trying to encourage her along too?
I thought exactly like you, especially at wk1. How the hell was I going to run for 30 minutes. C25k really is an amazing plan and will get you through each week.
I have always ran by myself which I quite like. Until 2 weeks ago I did my first parkrun and it was amazing just so different running with lots of people.
Thanks to you all for the feedback, really useful to hear the advice and encouragement. Going to stick with running alone or with daughter as suits me that way by not having the time commitment with someone else or a group, it fits around working and being mum then!
I was in your place a year ago. Out of curiosity I found out I could manage 40 seconds between telegraph poles. Then discovered C25K.
Out of necessity I ran alone and apart from parkruns still do. Running with someone else I imagine can be great support but also unhelpful competitiveness.
There are hundreds of ways of running. Find by trial and error what suits you. Good luck!!!
We quickly build a comfort zone around us... and if any of what that entails is removed from us it can make the run a little tougher for sure. Good to get these in early though as it’s going to happen at some point.
Great job on week one to both of you.
I did this plan with my daughter, but we rarely ran together. We ran laps in opposite directions for most of it so we both ran at our own pace, and high fived every time we crossed over.
As for next week... yeah, it’s hard to imagine doing it, but so was week one right? Slow and steady as you go, especially on the first run of the week. You can do it.
