I had two terrible runs last week and one awful experience on a treadmill. I seemed to pick up lots of aches and niggles, couldn't find the enthusiasm for YouTube yoga either. I was generally feeling maybe running wasn't my thing after all.

Anyway, great run this morning, no pains, no dead thighs, no slumping, no dragging my feet. Really felt good. I've decided after Christmas I'm going to get a gait analysis and buy the best running shoes I can afford and just get on with being a runner.

Brilliant Speedy60. Remember this run some are really really great and some are not. Enjoying shopping for your new shoes. 😊😊

Probably a daft question, but when I go to buy new running shoes, should I take my old ones with me?

I don't think you need them as they will assess you only for the new ones 😊

As I've always said you don't need the most up to date model of what's right for you, you can get an older model that can be as much as 50% off. It's up to you

Thanks. I just wondered whether they would look at the pattern of wear on the soles. I'm all for 50% off.is January a good time to buy?

I was so dubious about both gait analysis AND buying expensive shoes. Is it really worth it? But I went and did it and 3 runs in with new shoes and i can honestly say its 100% worth the time and money. You wont regret it

Thanks. I wish I had done it in the first place but its quite an outlay for a new activity
