Well, that went very well. This was the one that the runner inside me was itching to do! 25 mins non-stop running. ππββοΈ
I sprang out of bed at 5:45am and was out the door at 6:30am. Still dark, just the big ole shiny moon and a few streetlights, no people around and just the odd startled fox π¦ for company. (The squirrels were still snoozing).
My legs felt good, and after a stressful day at work yesterday I was looking forward to my "running meditation" that seems to put everything in perspective so well. Not once did I feel the need to stop, and I managed to keep a nice pace. Was rather shocked when Jo told me I had 5 mins left! And, when she suggested upping the pace a bit for the last 60 seconds I had the energy to take her up on it! Shocker!
I now hate intervals. I now love running. β€οΈ
Week 7? Bring it!
Now for my reward - egg on toast and a banana.
Thanks to all you lovely folk for cheering me on in this journey; it means so much, and helps more than you can imagine.

Oh yes indeed. Brilliant run.
I had a dreadful day at work on Tuesday. Went for a run in the evening. It was a brilliant way to de-stress from the day and I don't know how far I ran but I was fast without struggling.
You are a brilliant runner. Long may you continue to enjoy it.
Thank you SCB1! Sorry you too had a dreadful work day - but thank heavens we now have running. I spent the whole of yesterday stressed out and upset, and all I could think about was "I want to go run, I want to go run!"
I used to deal with stress by flopping on the couch and drinking wine. Now, I do flop in the evenings, but no more than half a glass of wine on the night before a run, healthy dinner and early night to prepare for the best run possible. What a good switcheroo!
Yes I agree: down with intervals, bring on those lovely long runs. And well done for the early starts too, in the cold and dark - you, my friend, are obsessed!!
Ha ha! I truly think I am. Never do I struggle with getting out for a run. And the cold dark mornings? You know, there is something quite magical about running in the dark, when it is so quiet and still. Plus, I get to see the sunrise if it's a clear day. π x
Congratulations, I never realised how much the walks threw me to be honest, I found W5R3 to be easier the W6 R1 & R2, the walking seemed to throw my rhythm out.
Same here, LeeU - didn't enjoy runs 1 and 2 of week 6 much at all. Cannot quite believe I have just three weeks left of this wonderful programme! Thank you for your support. I have been impressed following your running journey too. πββοΈπ
Excellent stuff, well done fellow runner! At the outset the walking intervals couldn't arrive soon enough but by the stage you're at they're a nuisance! Keep at it, enjoy and that nice shiny badge will be yours soon!
Thanks lardofale. π I sure have surprised myself - I used to cry out for the recovery walk just 4 weeks ago!
Wow - you go girl!!
This is fantastic, and so encouraging to see you doing so well. I felt the need to a little extra speed boost at the end of my first week 6 run today, it's catching isn't it? We must be getting fitter, right?
Today was intervals for me, and actually I was fine with it, because it was mainly running. I can't wait to catch up with you, though actually I never will because I think you run every two days, and I run 3 times every week... definitely looking forward to W6R3 myself on Tuesday. You're so close now Sadie
Thanks Neil! And yes, we definitely are getting fitter. My lungs astound me. My legs? Getting there. My heart? Totally stolen. π I have the running bug and it is delightful.
I am glad you handled the intervals better than me! I think having the grumps setting out on those runs really hindered me, which goes to show how much this running lark is mental as much as physical. You are doing fab though, and your running story is a lovely, compelling one. π
Actually, I don't always run every two days. I sometimes allow myself an extra rest day now and then depending what is going on in my life. I ran Sunday, Tuesday and Friday this week. Next run might be Sunday - or I might commute it to Monday if my legs feel like they need another day. π
