Why does week 5 have such a massive difference between run 1 and run 3.

going from 5 minutes to 20 minutes in just 6 days was ridiculous ?

Don't worry about that run, the program has been preparing you for run 3 of week 5, just take it slowly, after you complete it you will be very proud of yourself 😊.

Hi Tangogolf ...you are not the first and definitely will not be the last to look at week 5 and think 'WHAAAAAAT???' But honestly, week 5 has already been prepared for in those legs of yours, that's what the programme has been doing to you all along...yes, it seems a long time but if you don't overthink it, just get out there and enjoy the run, the 20 minutes will be over as soon as you know it...and I bet your smile will last a lot longer!!

Not ridiculous at all if you analyse what you've done so far.

And it's NOT 5 minutes vs 20 minutes

Week 5 Run 1 is 15 minutes of running with small walking breaks.

Week 5 Run 2 is 16 minutes of running with small walking breaks.

Week 5 Run 3 is 20 minutes with no breaks. Honestly, there really isn't much difference at all. Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 have prepared you for this.

Well, they have prepared your body, but not your mind and it really is all in the mind believe it or not.

In fact, by the time you come to W5R3 you'll have run for 157 mins in total. That's a LOT of time on your feet and ample preparation to run 20 mins.

If you analyse all the posts about this supposed big jump you will find they are all by people who haven’t attempted the run yet. Anybody who has done the run will tell you not to worry - and they are the ones who know.

You think it’s bad but you’ve already done the hard work. Take it really slow it will be fine. You can do this😊

You are prepared as others say but for us it seemed so long that we started really slow and ended up speeding up at the end

Sorry guys but I had to have two one minute brisk walks during the 20 minutes

No need to be sorry Tangogolf , you had two 1 minute walks it's no big deal. I had 3 tries at this before I managed it . Have a rest day go out and try again go slow and slower again if needed . You can do it 🤗🤗

I also found it really hard and it took me 3 attempts to complete. I gave wk 5 run 3 its own separate week! I had to slow down until I was almost shuffling on the spot.
