Saturdays Run

I was in two minds about doing ParkRun this morning, I was concerned that if Mrs LeeU tried and didn't complete it or was last it may put her off.

It was decided by the fact that we didn't head out early enough and as we passed the ParkRun location they were just lining up ready to start.

We parked up at the canal car park and did the obligatory 5 minute walk, it seems so much shorter when you're outside than when you're on a treadmill, and we both set off.

Instead of trying to run much slower and keeping with Mrs LeeU, I pulled away but kept returning, never really getting more than 50 meters away, again, I'd turn round and run back and then do the whole thing over again.

Mrs LeeU was determined to get to the second lock today and her asthma was being rather good and not causing her much of an issue, so we pressed on.

Once we got to the second lock we turned around and headed back to the car park, me constantly pulling away and running back, allowing me to keep a higher pace without leaving Mrs LeeU far behind.

Overall, it was a good run, 57 minutes, my longest outdoor run to date, definitely Mrs LeeU's longest run ever, she hit her target of 5k.

I'm really cheesed off as I was about 80 meters off of 6k, I wasn't fast but that was the whole point of today's run, to start pushing the distance at a slow pace and start getting up towards the 10k mark. Oh well, there's always another run.

Week 9 run 2 ticked off for Mrs LeeU with graduation looming on Monday

Happy running everyone.

I'm very proud of her, she managed to hit 5k, she isn't fast but we can work on that over time, she is very excited about graduating on Monday.

She's then got her consolidation runs to do, I've told her after her run today she cannot go over the 30 minute mark on her next couple of runs.

How lovely, it’s so good to run together isn’t it? we do that one of us sprints off then jogs back to keep together, i was about to turn once when Willow whizzed past me nearly knocking me over lol

Lol, I'm more at risk of being knocked over by a cyclist than by Mrs LeeU but I look forward to the day when she can keep up.

It was a good run though.

Sometimes Willow walks a bit and then sprints up behind me but we never had any sprints in our legs until well after graduation MrsLeeU is doing great you must be so proud of you both

I am very proud of her, she has and is continuing to do great. I can't wait until her consolidation runs are over and she can start pushing the time/distance.

Interesting post. Myself and Snowgdss have considered park runs, but being on different weeks, it would be hard to do it 'together'.

I think we may wait until Snowgdss gets to wk5 r2 and then try one. It must be so much nicer when you're both on constant runs, whereas we're both at the interval stage.

Happy running!

It is nice running with the wife, it's helped me manage my pace and enabled me to run outside on my own without running far faster than my body can manage for now.
