this week has been a bit hectic as my daughter is on holiday this week and we had planned several things to do and people to meet up with so I changed my cleaning job from Monday to Tuesday morning and then awoke really early so decided to do my last run of week 9 then.
Still not 100% but feeling a lot better than I have been I remembered my inhaler this time, and set my headphones and podcast up and off I went. Short sleeve weather still which is lovely and I dug out capris too so felt quite summery. I decided not to go too fast as I wanted to finish comfortably so I kept to a steady pace and headed off towards the river, my favourite running spot. Everything is starting to bloom and green up and there are loads of baby birds along the rivers edge too, so a really lovely morning run and the first 15 minutes just melted away and all too soon it was time to turn round and head homewards.
I was toying with pushing on and trying for a 5k run but then I thought “No, not today, just enjoy it “. I’m a slow 5ker and that would have meant another 13-15 mins of running which I think is pushing it for me at the moment. So I carried and decided to turn off and come back around the lower part of the town and then got 5 mins in and came to a footpath closed sign with no way round so ended up having to double back and leap through a gap in the hedge. All part of life’s rich tapestry 😂😂
And then made my way back towards home. 30 mins done, nothing hurting and a sense of achievement at having graduated yet again!! Back home, showered, dressed and off to do my cleaning job.
And then a nice relaxing long walk with my daughter in the afternoon/ evening. It’s been a busy couple of days since including a fantastic sports massage yesterday. I went and met my great niece and her little boy Rowan for a cuppa while my daughter had her massage and then she went and met a couple of work friends for coffee while I had mine. Then we had a nice wander about followed by the obligatory Hockings icecream before we came home.
I’m going to increase my runs by 5 mins a week (3 runs a week) for the next couple of weeks before I try for the full 5k. Having had so many setbacks I’m not risking it again.
