I know I said I wasn’t going to work to the program this morning, but I felt good and positive, so I put my w9 podcast on with the view that I’ll see how it goes and I’ll walk if needed...And I did it! I ran for the full 30 minutes, all be it very slowly, but I did it!!!!! I’m so pleased.
I’m not going to lie, the ankle isn’t 100% it twinged a little all the way round, but I was going so slowly and I was taking it so easy making sure I wasn’t landing too hard, but it didn’t cause me any pain or discomfort at all, so I kept going! I also made sure I cooled down properly with some stretches and I’m pleased to say that it’s held up very well! The Brooks were a dream too, which must have helped!
So I can say that I’ve now completed run 2 of week 9. I’m not going to run again until the weekend to save putting too much pressure on my ankle. One more run guys and I’ll have done it 🥳
Aww I'm so pleased for you. The rest and being careful is really paying off. Do you think you'll still do your graduation at parkrun or do you think it will be too much.
Morning!! Thank you so much for all your encouragement! 😄
I don’t think I’ll do it this weekend Buddy. I think I was putting too much pressure on myself. I’ll probably do my graduation run on Sunday morning and then aim for a park run towards Christmas time 👟🎅🏼
Well done!! I’m so jealous as we were at the same stage at one point and now I’ve had to go back to week 4 because of sickness I missed the posts about your ankle but it sounds like you haven’t had an easy time of it either. Completely admire you. You seem so positive and you deserve to finish the programme with flying colours. You got this x
Awwww thank you so much! Don’t feel jealous; we’re all on slightly different journeys! I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve been sick 😪 I wasn’t positive about my ankle at all when it happened 🤣 I pushed myself too hard and caused myself an injury so I was really disappointed and angry with myself! However, on reflection I think it’s definitely worth taking the time to take care of yourself before getting back on track. The program will always be there, so don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself. I’m finishing over a week later than I’d planned to, but it’s no big deal, I’ll get there eventually. I’ve learned so much more about myself since being on the IC and I bet you have too. Keep at it. I look forward to hearing your updates and seeing you ploughing through the last few weeks 💪🏼 please keep me posted ☺️
