I’ve been putting this run off for 3 days as it’s been raining every evening. This evening it finally stopped for a while so I thought I’d go. I hadn’t prepared at all-in terms of hydration or nutrition but just went anyway after my dynamic stretches and didn’t overthink it.
I went REALLY slowly. Much slower than I normally run so I wasn’t out of breath. 5 mins went easily, then 10. Then it started raining, hard 🌧. I could see a few people out with hoods looking at me probably thinking how crazy is this woman to carry on running! But I didn’t care. In fact, I lapped it up, smiled, sped up a tad and carried on all the way to the end. I loved the refreshing feeling of the rain cooling me down. The rain calmed down a bit when I had 2 or 3 mins to go. When I finished I was almost disappointed, could have carried on for longer so maybe I wasn’t running fast enough?
I wasn’t even that out of breath.
Anyway, I did it and I’m pleased. I’ve never run for 20 mins in my life so this is an achievement for me. Can’t wait to finish the program now. It’s very cleverly designed and I hope it puts the mind at rest of anyone about to attempt the same run. Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement.

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊
Woooohoooooooooo!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 Massive congrats!! I’ve been checking in incase you’ve posted about this run! Massive achievement and sounds like you are super fit to feel like you could’ve continued!! Well done!! Here’s to week 6!!! 😃
Wonderful! Well done to you! No, you made the right call; slowly is the way to go. I did the same and it works. We’ve not yet mastered the art of how to pace ourselves and it’s easy to get it wrong; better to be sure and finish the run. It’s a milestone run and you did it! You have every right to be super proud of yourself. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️👏👏👏🎉
Thank you. I think you are right. I know I have run faster on interval runs but it’s different when you have the recovery walks. I guess the pace comes with experience.
It definitely does; I haven’t got it yet, but I can feel it coming! I usually run at a snail’s pace, but for my last run W7 R2, I did pick it up a bit and still managed ok. That was the 3rd time I had run for 25 minutes and I was gaining confidence, you will, too!
Thank you. I’ve never been out yet when it’s raining from the offset and this is only the second time I’ve got caught in it but it has a nice cooling effect when it appears mid run.
Well done! Your post could have been written by me as I did exactly the same last night in the rain, slowly. I’d repeated runs 1 and 2 and thought I’m ready never mind the rain! However, when Laura said you’ve done 5 mins I was a bit disappointed as I thought I’d done about 8! But it was fine after that and like you could have done a bit more. So pleased!
Great! I felt exactly like you! But this week w6r2 was a struggle but i think I may have gone too fast thinking “i can nail this”! This evening i shall attempt w6r3 .... 25min.... 🤦♀️
That’s great. I am repeating this run today going to take your advice and go much slower. I was thinking of repeating the whole week but after reading this I am going to try again. Well done. I hope I can do it .
Brilliant! Was my favourite run too! Now you know you can really finish this. Only 10 minutes more running and a good few runs to work up to it. Keep on!!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼yay congratulations for completing the milestone run! You did the right thing slowing down- you can always give more at the end if you have it, but if you’ve used it up too quickly at the beginning you’re stuffed! I have discovered i quite like running in the rain too but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it. Nice and cooling though.
I think if someone had said to me 6 weeks ago I would be enjoying running in the rain I would have thought they were mad! Funny how quickly your mindset can change 😀
