Been a hectic few days, hence I've not been online much, but I thought I'd better make a post, just so you know I haven't given up
Well what a weird couple of runs. Wk3 R2 was on Saturday morning and I found it hard. Really hard. Could be the copious amounts of red win and lack of sleep, but it was the hardest run since wk1 r1. However, I struggled through and after I'd got home and recovered (wondering if it was too early to open wine again), I checked my stats on RunKeeper. Turned out to be my fastest pace to date. Certainly didn't feel like it. Even better news, after my wife finished her run, she agreed we should have wine with lunch. So all ended well
Wk3 R3 was last night. Hate running after work, but I knuckled down and did it. it was easy, no problem. Felt fast, felt good, felt like my best run to date. And guess what, it was slow. My slowest run of Wk3. But at least I'm feeling more confident about Wk4. My goodness what a step up that is!
So, the lesson I've learnt is that slow feels good, fast is a struggle. However, the biggest thing for both me and my wife, is that we're doing this without question. It doesn't matter the time of day or the weather. We're just getting out and doing it. And you know what, I just might be starting to enjoy being one of those runners who don't look like they are enjoying it and would be much faster and dryer in a car
Have a great day everybody.

You've got it, a slow run feels good a fast run is a struggle so try and keep it slow. Alchohol dehydrates you and that's probably another factor that made you run feel tougher. Remember to keep drinking water every day.
Snowgdss and myself are really good at encouraging each other to be bad. Turns out, we're also really good at encouraging each other to be good too. Winning combination!
I must admit I was getting a bit worried, so am relieved to see your post this morning! (It's interesting to see that as well as C25K we have another vice in common too - red wine!) The speed thing is something I'm still learning to accept, in my last run on Saturday ('life' has got in the way of other runs so far this week) I managed all of the W4 runs, but at a very slow (Japanese Slow Jogging type) pace and when I turned it back into a walk, I didn't feel like I was going any slower, so started to feel like a bit of a fraud (despite the elation of doing it)! However coming back on here and reading other posts I'm feeling happier again now and I do know that even at my slow pace it was working my body more than walking, so it is doing me good. It's great that you are both motivating each other too, that must be brilliant. I'm confident that you'll crack W4, you'll maybe not find it easy (it's not supposed to be) and carry on through the programme. Well done and keep on keeping on!
Really pleased you made it. And I've made exactly the same point to somebody else, if you're going faster than a walk, you're winning.
There are a few of us who are all within a couple of weeks of each other, and I'm confident, that with the support of this forum, we'll all make it to the end!
I had wondered if you had disappeared into the ether - good to see you’re both still around!
We’re all learning that slow is the way to go. And I’ve found that it feels better when I’ve had plenty to drink, and I don’t mean of the wine variety (I prefer beer anyway) - no, I mean water obvs, and I’ve never been a good water drinker so I add lime cordial.
Well done on completing W3, and I think you’ll be surprised by W4. Enjoy the rest day/s and you’ll be raring!
I love your posts and they make me laugh out loud 😂! Thank you for that and keep them coming. We are all in this journey together and yes the lure of wine 🍷 🤣
Well DONE you early Week 4 guys. I feel just the same- we just have to do it! However, despite your encouragement I chickened out of week 4 and continued week 3 again. Week 3 was great but I'm looking for new trainers and had a slightly painful foot so thought it best not to overdo it. Then yesterday went for a wonderful long walk in my faithful old walking boots and can hardly move today - looks like I need new walking boots too - creak and groan. Soooooo frustrated as wanted to start Week 4 today and it's such a lovely day. Oh well, a bit if strength and flex today, I think and tomorrow will have a go. Good to hear you are all still out there.
I've said before that I really think this program is a framework for success. If you can go from start to finish in 9 weeks, then brilliant.
But the sensible thing to do is to know your mind and body. If you have to repeat a run or a week, that's fine. It's the best way to set yourself up for success. That and of course coming here for the constant support and encouragement!
