Week 4 Run 1 🥵

Wow. Just wow.

That’s was SO hard! 5 minutes of running seriously pushed me to my limit. At one I was getting panicked because I was so out of breath but knew that if I stopped even 1 second early I’d be so disappointed in myself so I pushed on through!

I am absolutely dreading run 2 of this week now. I normally have my best run on Monday after resting the weekend so am unsure how I’m going to cope with Wednesday!

I am just trying to be pleased with the fact I completed run 1 and enjoy resting my tired ( more like bloody exhausted legs)

I hope everyone had a great weekend and has plenty of great runs this week 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ 😆

Congratulations you did it - but slow down. All you have to do is hit the time not a particular speed. You are doing great, dont put yourself off with pushing too hard .

Thank you! I’m not going all that fast so worry I’ll barely move if I go much slower lol.

Speed will come, you need to be happy to go out for the next run. You have a busy life - 3 boys and work. You are doing great.

A huge well done. I’m 63 (nearly 64) and only started running last year. I can only tell you that running has improved my self esteem. You get out of it what you put in and with your attitude you will go far x

Thank you so much!! And a huge well done to you too!! That’s absolutely amazing! Definitely an inspiration!

Well done! That run is a really difficult one. Like Laura says though, it’s when we push ourselves to the end that we make real gains. I’m sure you’ll find the next run much more manageable. Good for you 💪🏼

You know what, when she said that it genuinely helped me to push on! I want to get fitter and knowing I was pushing myself meant that was potentially happening really made me push on through!!

I also did my week 4 run 1 today. I think the two main things are to run slowly - you are running for a duration of time rather than speed. Secondly and I know it's easy for me to say but look forward to the next run, having a positive attitude can help you get over the line after all you got this far and that's an achievement. Good luck.

thanks for your advice! I am going rather slowly already so think I’d walk if I went any slower lol.

You’re right though...positive pants firmly pulled on!! And to be fair, the feeling you get afterwards definitely does out weigh how awful it feels at the time!!

I hope your run went well today too!!

I’ve just finished w4 and I found r1 of this week difficult and definitely a ‘step up’. To be honest r2 wasn’t great either and had to really force myself to go out tonight. So glad I did...best run of the week. My mantra is to make sure I always go out for the next run and just take one run at a time. Good luck. Cx

Well done! Bet a few weeks ago you didn't think you'd be running for 5 minutes did you!

Slowing down really is important. You say you think you'll be walking if you go any slower, running style is different to walking - both feet are off the ground at the same time. So even if your running pace is slower than your walking one, you're still running!

The "rule" is that you can have a conversation whilst running (or sing along to your tunes), so slow down until you can do that. Honestly, speed is NOT what you're after at this point.

Not what you're looking for?
