Week 9 Run 1 Happy Tears ๐Ÿ˜‚

Today I decided not to use the app or Laura's voice and just listen to live radio ๐Ÿ“ป

Why? I think because psychologically I would have been anxiously waiting to hear the half way bell and not concentrating on the enjoyment of the run and the scenery, etc.

So, I started my 5 min warm up walk a few minutes before the news and started running just after it finished. The Jeremy Vine Show was on at the time and one of his guests was Billy Bragg. I just kept running and listening to their conversation, mixed with a bit of music and traffic info and before I knew it, I'd run for 30 minutes!

I had the usual 2 or 3 minutes at the beginning of the run thinking 'bloody hell, this feels like it's gonna be hard.' Then just settled into some kind of zen like happiness ๐Ÿค—

It wasn't until I'd got home that I looked at my phone tracker and saw that I'd actually run 3.15 miles in 30 mins, which is 5.06k! Then I cried very happy tears ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you all for the continued support! And thank you for the breakfast menu AlMorr I had porridge before I ran today, instead of the usually empty stomach run ๐Ÿ˜‰ That could have made me run faster ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ xxx

Congratulations on completing run 1 of week 9, you are on your way as one of only 10% of people who have ran W9R3 of C25K sub 30 minutes, I am happy that you enjoyed your porridge before the run, although I am from Scotland I do not have porridge for breakfast, perhaps if I did, I could also have ran my graduation run sub 30 minutes and sub 60 minutes for my 10k yesterday, ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wow! No way! I can't believe that! I am buzzing ๐Ÿ

I'm listening to the radio every time now ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can only dream of running 10k ๐Ÿ˜‚ xxx

Any time under 6 minutes a kilometer for a 5k is sub 30 minutes, to achieve that you must run 5.59 minutes a kilometer for 30 minutes. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ However, to keep that up for another half hour is manageable with proper training, the average time for people who run a 5k is around the 27/29 minute pace, double that for a 10k to around 57/59 minutes. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ

Flipping heck! I'm even more chuffed with myself! Now I've really got something to aim for in the future ๐Ÿ”ฎ xx

You seem to have the natural ability to run sub 30 minute 5Ks like I have to run a sub 35 minute 5K, all my 5Ks, including the first 5k of yesterday's 10k have been sub 35 minutes.

My very first parkrun time was 34.16, then 34.17, the next week at parkrun was my PB ever 5k at 32.19, the following week being 33.31, even going back to last year, my first ever 5K was 34.24, so as you can see I am pretty even at sub 35 minute 5Ks, I am sure your times will be around 5 minutes quicker than mine. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ

Thank you โค๏ธ I'm completely over whelmed by it! Years ago when I used to run, I would never eat beforehand. And as a singer that's also something I would never do before a concert or recording or a gig. It's just impossible to breathe from my diaphragm. Now I'm going to eat a couple of hours before every run, but still never before singing ๐ŸŽถ xx

Thatโ€™s an interesting perspective as Iโ€™m still using the W9s as a timing aid but should try to make the break having now graduated....how were the llamas?

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ yes of course re Aberdeen Angus, lovely looking ๐Ÿ„ ..... the ๐Ÿ‘ and I just seem to know what each other are thinking without speaking/baaโ€™ing, for me โ€œwhy am I out ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ at stupid oโ€™clockโ€ and for them โ€œoh look itโ€™s that red-faced wheezing fat lad againโ€ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Well done. I think I listen for timing cues as well - maybe I'll try just listening to my book and seeing what happens!

I really think it made a huge difference to me today! I got the bbc radio app on and rewound the live broadcast to just before the news and listened from then on.

And thank you โค๏ธ

Wow! Well done. Thatโ€™s a wonderful achievement. Fantastic pace. Iโ€™m nowhere near 5km.

I was thinking about not using the app for my last run of W9 (last run of C25K. Eek!) for the same reasons and now, after reading this, Iโ€™m going to try it. Also, I think even the inside of my ears get sweaty and my earbuds fall out.

Two runs to go. Youโ€™re going to smash it. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

I had no idea I was anywhere near 5k! It's amazing what a bowl of porridge can do ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ˜‚

Don't think how long you've been running for or how far you've gone! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other! You can do it! ๐Ÿ†
